UCA decision?

First off, I know this has been discussed on here many of times. I’ve searched the forum and found lots of info on many brands and styles of UCA’s. I’m going to pull the trigger today on one of these two brands and want any friendly input on them and why.

The two choices at hand are the Camburg X-Joint and the JBA’s. Yes, I want to run ball joint style UCA’s for two reasons... one, my truck is mostly a weekend warrior pavement princess 90% of the time, with minimal off roading for family camping trips. As well as occasional hauling of utility trailer or 18’ pontoon boat. Secondly, I live in Maryland. We have snow and salt a lot... so the less maintenance, the better.

The truck is a 2020 DCSB TRD Sport 4wd. The suspension consists of the Eibach 2.0 front coilovers in the front set at 2.5” of lift. The rear is a basic Eibach Pro shocks and 1.5” blocks. No added weight other than a CBI push bar front bumper... maybe 70lbs at most.

I am just looking for people that have run either the Camburg or JBA set ups and what they think... and any problems they may have encountered.

Stock rims and tires?

 

Rims will be Enkei RPT1’s 18” and tires I have not decided on yet... nothing overly aggressive, thinking 275 all terrains

 

JBA and with the money saved, an AAL!

any reason for the JBA’s? Other than the obvious $250 price difference?

 

This ^^^. With the JBAs larger tires require a specific wheel size and offset. And factory wheels you can only run up to a certain size tire. I have JBAs and have had zero issues.

 

Make sure you have the right offset and backspace so the UCA clears your tires size.

2. Greaseable BJ's and bolt bushings
3. Moog BJ's made for a Chevy Silverado that you can replace and get from any parts store if need be
4. Built in 3 degrees positive Caster
5. BJ's bolted in and not needed to be pressed out to change

Camburg uses a proprietary ball joint while JBA uses a traditional moog that can be picked up pretty cheap at local auto parts store and are replaced easily.

 

The Enkei wheels are 18x9 with 0 offset

 

I have JBA, not a huge fan anymore. I'm on my third set of ball joints with my first sets lasting only 18 months each. When I posted up, others chimed in saying they'd had a similar experience. For only a little more, I recommend Dirt King now.

...oh, I have a set of SpiderTrax spacers (front only) as well. Should push the wheel/tire away a bit to help with any possible clearance issues.

 

The sealed ball joint, grease points at the arm bushings and positive built in caster. Essentially the same thing you're getting with the Camburg, but at a cheaper price. They're the same tubing wall thickness (assuming same ksi material). I would say the Cerakote treatment on the JBA ball joint is definitely a 'cool' addition and should lead to less risk of corrosion.

Well I was using the JBA supplied ball joints, so it's a JBA issue.

That’s all I have to offer, I’m running SPC uppers.

 

Too big of a spacer can cause more rubbing issues.

 

I think they use Moog?

 

They don't, not sure who they use. I only know this because this third set I replaced with moog since I only need these arms to last a few more months. The moog fit, but were definitely different than whatever they have.
