Good evening. Quick question for you guys. I’m taking my total chaos UCAs off - switching to a ball joint UCA. I’ve got the passenger side off and the new one on - however, the stud for the ball joint won’t fit through the spindle. I looked online, and the only thing I can figure is this metal piece (below) needs to come off the spindle somehow... must be part of the TC UCA hardware. But it isn’t budging...

Can anyone confirm it needs to be removed? And how would you do it??

Try heating the upper part of the spindle to get the metal to expand. My only concern with this is that sleeve is probably aluminum meaning it’ll absorb the heat faster and expand as well- making it more stuck. You could also try soaking it in PB blaster or kroil or even WD40, then grab it with some channel locks and wiggle it out. You might damage the sleeve but they’re easily replaceable from TC. you could also take a punch or screwdriver and hit it from underneath.

Thanks fellas. All makes sense. I soaked it in PB blaster tonight, will spray it again in the AM, let it sit and after work I’ll try the channel lock/heat method. I know they’ll get destroyed so I’ll hit TC up for some replacements tomorrow.

the spindle/ knuckle has a flat spot, take a small sledgehammer or hammer and bang the flat spot. it'll pop right out. you wont need to heat or mess up the misalignment
