Yeah. Putting Kings on my truck. Rear is lifted about 2" and I will match that up front with the Kings. I don't want to spend more money but SHOULD I put new UCAs on and if so what would you recommend?

SPC Light Racing Ball Joint UCA's are your cheapest reputable choice. Total Chaos and Camburg also make more expensive options. 2" is approaching the threshold of when you would want to start using an aftermarket UCA.

3" ome lift 883. Fnfx pros.
My alignment was fine with ome 883 lift and stock ucas. 285s clear the uca also.

How much lift did you get?

Not sure the exact numbers but at least 2+inches bc they are the higher rated spring rate of the ome springs. Not saying you don't want to get ucas down the road but it may not be necessary.

I suppose I could see how it aligns and if they struggle I can look into UCAs..but seems like I might be ok...as long as I'm under 2"...not sure exactly if my rear lift. Progressive AAL 3 pack in rear with overload spring and 5100s. I THINK it's 1.75-2.00".

That's what the icon 3 leaf aal was supposed to give when I was looking into those so sounds reasonable. Probably lower just because you have a double cab, so maybe 1.75 is accurate.

Been using the stock UCAs and king setup with somewhere between 1.5 and 2 in lift for years now. Just rotate the tires often.

if you get a uca you can get ext travel kings.

as far as tire wear is concerned you can actually align with 3" of lift. but as far as drivability goes once you get to 2.5" and higher you run out of caster and truck will want to wander on road more. still perfectly drivable though.

@ devinzz Just speaking from personal experience my truck has been "aligned as it can get" and if I don't rotate my tires often this inner tread gets really cupped out. It drives straight though when the tires are good, when they are wearing down then the alignment feels off. If i keep them rotating they stay more even. I definitely don't have them turned more than 2.5 inch lift. I was changing a CV today, the boot has been ripped for over 4 years, and the lower control arm did drop down a little more after i unbolted it from the spindle. So yeah i agree you can get more travel with a new UCA. I dropped my passenger side king out to change the spherical bearing at the bottom today. Ill throw up some pics tomorrow.

Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
back in the customtacos.com days, we were all running lifts without aftermarket UCAs for years with no issues... in 2006 UCAs became a "necessity" on the new gens... i vote you try going without them... just don't get the extended travel coilovers... get standard stock replacement set...

Thanks guys!! Great info!! Will try kings without UCAs for starters...main reason I was asking is two years ago when I put 5100's in the front, the shop had a hard time aligning exactly but it was something that was seized up in the adjustment as I remember, not the UCA.

Just passenger side work so far. Replaced the spherical bearing on the bottom of my king, put in a new CV, and wire wheeled rust off the frame then POR 15 on it. Only the passenger side so far but liking the POR 15 a lot. A tip on the King install, unbolt the lower arm from the spindle and push down on the arm to get the shock to fit in easy. It is a lot harder if you dont unbolt the lower. And repainted the steel wheels they were getting super rusted
