I don't like the chrome bumpers on my 2017 Tacoma. I know you can't really paint chrome so I was thinking about trying to use Plasti Dip on them, but trying to match the color might be difficult. Does anyone know if I might be able to get the bumpers wrapped?

Painting over the chrome color will not work that well. Plastidip would work and it's cheap, very easy and black would match the rest of the bumper.

Or the covers like Foster linked above, although they're not the cheapest option.

Don't many models have color matched bits there?

Get the correct color from your dealer and swap them out. Aren't they are just plastic?

The chrome colored rear bumper end caps on my OR are plastic; not actual chrome. I'm not sure if that makes them paintable though. I plan to replace my whole bumper with an aluminum aftermarket one. The plastic is already partly missing.

I had the chrome ones on my 2017 silver trd offroad and took them to a local auto body shop and they painted them. I think I paid like $125 for both and they looked completely stock. No problems after 4 years of driving with them. Well worth it to get rid of that stupid chrome.

So If they painted them they must not be real chrome like someone else said in their reply.

You'll find your paint code in the drivers side door jam

Indeed they are not. You cannot put true 'chrome' on a piece of plastic.

I was just admiring a black 3rd gen sr5 access cab with chrome colored rear bumper stuff/whatevers as I was driving up the mountain this evening. The preference could in part be age related? Chrome bumpers were synonymous with vehicles, esp trucks, for decades. They all look pretty good!

Scuff them up enough and they'll accept it much better. Or sandblast it off first.

Unless you're doing so from a great distance, I'd advise against media blasting plastic parts you're hoping to paint for an OEM finished look.

I ordered matte black bumper ends for my cement sr5. I have not put them because it's been too cold to pull at the plastics. I do dislike the chrome. I feel it should be black or body color. Since i started to black out all the exterior chrome I picked black

Yeah I think it's age related.

I think chrome looks good on trucks like Denali's though. It fits a certain look, but looks odd on a tacoma in my opinion.
