I heard that from drift people as well. I just looked into them. Super expensive! A baffled oil pan supposedly helps a lot. If I have clearance issues with the front axle I may have to run a dry sump so I’m waiting to see what I will have to do with the pan.

    Thanks for the advice!

In the big picture of this build, I’d think $550 to keep the LS happy isn’t a deal breaker.

better than killing a motor! v8 swapping jeeps are so tight it was about all you can do without spending a ton going full dry sump

I agree. What I’m saying is, I may have to go to a dry sump to get the clearance I need to keep axle back so spending 400 on a pan and 600 on a pressure regulator starts to cover half a dry sump setup. My axle is going in tomorrow so I’ll know.

Finally got a few hours to finish cleaning the SD. Lot of work man! Looks a lot better stripped. When link stuff is on I’ll final grind everything real nice. Plus at least 60lbs comes off with all the bullshit brackets.

UPDATE- DONT USE THIS AXLE. GET A LEAF SPRING MODEL FROM LATE 90'S INTO 2000'S. WAY LESS WORK AND BASICALLY THE SAME. 35 SPLINE VS 30 SPLINE I THINK. ILL TAKE 5 SPLINES LESS TO ONLY HAVE TO CUT OFF A LEAF SPRING PERCH AND SOME MOUNTS.

Man this LS kinda killed the super low/lots of uptravel thing. Gonna stay low w less up. I’m still seeing 4” on driver but not 100% sure yet. Pass is looking a little better.

    currently
    frame is at 23.25
    Axle at 20
    Wheel base 126

Why don't you just get a different oil pan? I'm pretty sure they make a whole bunch of low profile ones for the ls platform

True, but even if it's a little bit it might be worth it for like an inch or two of up travel.
I assume that's just the stock one on there now

I am. Plan on getting one that is about 1.5" lower back to the sump. That will give me the room with the trac but the steering is gonna be prob 2" above that so its gonna hit the crank pulley or front of pan. Its all good. I have a few options. Its day 1 of front work so just getting a feel for the problems ahead.

I'm pretty sure he already got another pan to gain an inch or so. He mentioned it in an earlier post

Gotcha. Sounds like you've got a good handle on it. That pan is definitely quite a bit bigger than anything on a Toyota motor.

Ah I must have missed that

The stock pan is big AF. Its 3" deep at the axle and goes to 2 5/8 I believe. The one im considering for a wet sump is this. Way lower.

Move the axle farther forward. I’m about 130 to clear the oil pan and ac condenser. And find a low pro pan. That should get you close to 6 ish. Or cut the hood and push the valve cover through the hood lol

It’s all doable. If the wheelbase is to Long move the rear axle forward and shorten the front of the bed. Or you can cut the firewall and move the engine back closer to a mid engine. It’s a little more work but being able to drive mine in the roads to the trails etc beats having a full tube buggy.

I've done the buggy and offroad only full-hydro spools thing. Done with that

Steering coming along. Prob change later when I can get a high steer but it will work for now.

Steering bracket won’t work. Too close to trac mount. Gotta bring everything out like 2”. I really liked the look of it too. Sucks.
