Made a revolutionary discovery the other day too! Lol. The front axle is kind of pretty and I didn’t want to paint it black. Gonna flap disc it w 120 grit and clear coat it with this shit. Same w rear tubes. I’ll have a California axle!!

@malburg114 so, I put my axles in the front and rear for the first time to get a real accurate wheel base and I’m at like 127 or a bit past and they were set full bump to rub firewall wheel well.

I know our leaf mounts are a little different but what is your wheel base at?

This is how you get your kid to watch you work on a truck. I use this 520 lift for everything!

I measured it but I forget what it actually is. Mine is 128-130. Closer to 130 from what I remember. I had to push my front axle pretty far forward to clear the ac pulley though. Tire rubs the corner lights at full flex so I had to cut them out. Rear is pretty close to stock location.

ok cool. Cause I’m seeing people saying 126.5 which is what I thought I was but when I measured accurately it was an inch more and I think I gotta go a bit more to clear rear well. I’m same up front. Gonna have to cut that whole corner out. Just remeasured at where I’ll prob stay and I’m 127 1/8.

Yeah, prob do a little guide cause nobody said shit about all the problems I’ve had. Also didn’t know that NOTHING on a complete engine works. Get a long block and be done.

Looking like 24.5 at c but a clean 5 under tire. Once I get a new pan it’s gonna be another 1 inch for sure so it works for me.

Still have a finger on the highest Panhard notch and pan is 1/2” clear.

I got your pm as well but set the frame on jackstands at the frame height you want. Then either put the tire on or measure and place the axle at whatever it’ll be with the tire on (40 in tire; place axle center at 20 in) and then measure your shock shaft showing. that’ll give you your uptravel available from the shock. Then it’s cycling to make sure it doesn’t hit anything.

that’s what took me so long was getting shocks to clear steering, steering to clear the oil pan, etc. I wouldn’t necessarily measure off the tire because the tire can fluctuate based off psi and tread depth. I did all of mine without the tire till I put the fenders back on to make sure they didn’t get into the hood and trim fenders.

and I wouldn’t fret to much over the wheelbase. It’s going to be long vs a standard 4 door jeep. I’d worry more about approach and departure angles and getting the front frame section as high as possible. 130 in wb is long to wheel but once you figure it out, it’s fun and super stable with the big axles. And on a 4 door Tacoma there’s not many ways to shorten the wheelbase because it doesn’t have the front bed section you could chop out and move the rear axle foward.

ok. That’s how I have been doing it so far. Measuring w out tire on at hub. Hoping the shocks are not too big of an issue. I read a thing fox has detailing install and measuring compression properly minus their washers of 5/8” I think it was. Seemed pretty straight forward..
