"On rear axles with a double cardan-style ’shaft, the pinion and driveshaft should ideally be at a 0-degree operating angle at ride height. It is important to allow the double cardan joint at the transfer case to take up the difference in slope between T-case output and the driveshaft. Now with that said, there are some exceptions in the real world. On a vehicle with soft springs or springs that are susceptible to axlewrap (such as on a spring-over), it is acceptable to keep the pinion down a degree or two to make sure the angles are correct on acceleration. Again, every vehicle is different and this should be discussed with your driveline builder."

Got some shit done today. At least an idea of where to start. Shackle angle is a little off but the springs are brand new and I think they will settle a little and the front is way low and the trans and t case are out. Otherwise, have to move the rear mount forward maybe.

The driver side is 1 degree different than the pass side on the shackle and it is pushing the axle forward like 1/8-1/4". I checked the front mounts and they are within a 1/16 of each other on both sides. Gotta put wheels on it to see if its just binding on the jack stands hopefully.

It depends if you had Wood build the shaft with a CV or not. All Tacoma’s came stock with a cv rear shaft

To add to the confusion, make sure your rear drive shaft is 1-3* LOWER than the tcase/dshaft slope. This will help keep good driveline smoothness due to gear rotation will want to push the pinion upwards.

Same applies for the front if running a front cv style driveshaft, except you'll want 1-3* HIGHER as the driveline wants to rotate down.

Cool. Thanks! yeah, def confusing as of now but all this info is nice to be able to reference. I was totally lost when I started the t case stuff. Got that down pat so I’m hoping this is the same. The only diff is, the t case can be changed easy. This is way more important.

Got my dummy empty trans ready to go in so I can get some reference points for rear.

Never would've thought to use old scaffolding as a workbench. Smart.

J-case forks cut/shaved to clear the twin stick knuckles. Thanks @Littles for the info on that.

Tic tac has to be removed from in between shift rods in the small part of housing.

Got the cases in today temporarily. Had to cut some floor out just to get in. Still have to do the shifters. Having a really hard time getting axle lined up square. Spent 4 hours on that and basically got zero accomplished w/out my laser.

The Trail Gear adaptor doesn't line up to the trans either. Have to drill 3 more holes out on that POS. These pics don't show even close to how bad it is but one is like 1/8" off and you cant even come close to starting it.
