Car-b-que. Glad no one was hurt.
We had a buddies Trooper II catch fire, wiring harness shorted out. We were on an exit ramp, no fire extinguisher, and a friend starts getting ready to piss on it just as a bus load of school kids rolls by…
We grabbed sand and we’re able to suffocate the fire, but my buddy may still have to tell his neighbors of his past every time he moves!

Looks like they were able to put it out quickly. I have investigated a number of car fires and they are total burns a lot of the time.

The two year time frame for the added lights could be relevant. It could be that his wiring rubbed through somewhere and shorted out, assuming the short was prior to any circuit protection. I have not personally seen any block heater failures in the field, but I'm sure the insurance industry is familiar.

I have also seen animals build nests in engine compartments of vehicles that aren't driven regularly, resulting in a fire.

First time I saw a car on fire, this girl was standing and staring at it. I slowed down to “help” and my girlfriend said “don’t stop, that girls a B, she deserves it”. Good thing someone else had already stopped. I could feel the heat in my car as we went around the burning car. Then, later I spent some time in the Bronx and city island, car fires were common on certain streets. Really makes you feel like your in the wrong place at the wrong time when you turn the corner and see a vehicle on fire on an empty street lined with warehouses.

    This story had everything.
Comedy, emotion highs and lows, and what a terrific bleak ending. Would read again/10

With those ugly fender flares, someone probably did him a favor by torching it.

This is when someone says, I’m gonna clean it up later. Like 6 zip ties is gonna fix inadequate preparation.

They typically launch an investigation, even if its fraud its very difficult to prove.

Most fires are caused by tech error or gross oil leaks.
