Had my lowas for three years. I have the rangers so they are a bit bulky but awesome quality.

Well I was torn between hammock or tent. I have made up my mind! Im going to use neither! i think I am going to get a usgi bivy sack and a good sleeping pad and sleeping bag. will prolly also end up making a tarp of some sorts. this seems to be the lightest shelter available.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The concept looks great though. I don't plan on bakpacking with one of those huge ass kettles, lol.

Might have to just buy one and give it a go. :D

Hey Dave what do you think about your Monarch chair? I've been wanting something like that for quite awhile but never pulled the trigger cause I couldn't find one light enough or one that looked like I'd actually enjoy sitting in.

And as far as I can tell it is the lightest chair. And when I mean chair I mean one that sits up off of the ground. I have seen some that are a 5x2 piece of nylon with a hole in the back to slide a hiking pole in to keep it up. To me thats not a chair, thats a tarp to keep your butt dry.

I figure I'll post a list of my meager gear list that I am slowly upgrading:
    1. Jansport Carson 80 external frame backpack (Upgrade soon)
    2. Alps Mountaineering Clearwater 20 sleeping bag
    3. Thermarest Basecamp sleeping pad
    4. Mountainsmith Pinnacle trekking poles
    5. MSR Miniworks EX water filter
    6. Marmot Limelight 2 tent
    7. MSR Pocket Rocket stove
    8. Patagonia base layer t shirt
    9. REI Muir Woods jacket
    10. Columbia Glacier Creek insulated shell
    11. Smartwool socks
    12. Marmot Cruz pants
    13. Swiss Gear hiking shoes (hellz yes--gonna be upgrading these soon)
    14. Quarrow Vista headlamp
    15. MSR Blacklite cooking set
    16. Snow Peak Titanium 450 cup

That's about it, the boots and pack are my last things to buy for a loooong time, hoping to get something lighter and smaller for my pack and some good ankle height hiking shoes, although the Swiss Gears are REALLY comfy and show very little wear after about 30 miles.

Any suggestions on packs, maybe in the 3-4000 cubic inch range?
