This is good to know, I have the 21" in my shopping cart now, so I'll be switching to the 15"

    Thanks!!

    this ^^^^^^
that 15" is plenty big enough. I have used both lengths and prefer the 15" over the 18.

Pics from last night. I'm kinda new to hammock camping, and I froze last night even though weather.com said it only got down to 46. My sleeping bag is normally comfortable 5 or 10 below that, but I guess the wind blowing beneath me makes a big difference. Also, riding with my backpack kinda sucked even though its small. I think I'll leave that kind of camping to warmer weather. Still had fun though! :D

Nice pics! Nice bike too! I sold a lot of those when I worked at the bike shop. Specialized makes an awesome line of bikes. As far as the freezing in the hammock goes, The wind definitely sucks all your heat from under you in the hammock. Try setting up a barrier (tarp) so that your back side is protected. Also, when your laying down, all that fabric on the bottom of the bag is being compressed down so it gets super thin. You probably always slept on a pad in a tent which keeps some space between you and the ground so you aren't getting cold.

big agnes insulated aircore pad......and hell yes! its the absolute best sleeping pad i have ever used. I really can not say enough about it. it blows thermarest pads out of the water. I went camping saturday night and it hit about 40 degrees. this pad being 2.5 inches thick was VERY comfy. kinda felt like my real bed. and being insulated, was super warm. I will even venture off to say that with a CCF pad to go underneath it, it would do great in the snow. I am also loving bivy camping.

damn you... another piece of gear added to the need to buy list. How is the top of the pad? The only complaint I have about my B.A. pad is it is kind of slippery on top so if you are on any kind of slope in the mummy bag, I end up sliding off the pad.
