I will have to check it out. Maybe one of the outfitters around me has one. Mine also takes a little bit to blow up as well but like you said... when your camping, there is no rush!

Anyone know any places to tent camp in Louisiana/Mississippi? I don't want to go to some RV park either, which is all I keep finding in Google.

Give this a try...links to all Forest Service websites. Once you get to the state you want click on 'recreation' and then on 'camping and cabins' from the menu on the left (at least that's how the MT site works, pretty sure they're all set up the same)

Black Creek has a nice trail, also there is a canoe rental. If you're looking to car-camp, Lake Airy is nice. Its near Wiggins. Its free and pretty primitive. The Tuxachanie Trail runs through it too. Shepard State Park in Gautier isn't too bad. Haven't been to Paul B Johnson, but I've heard its nice. Homochitta National Forest is pretty cool. Its near McComb and has some killer mtn bike trails. Its a nice place, except for the oil well nearby that makes noise all night long.

That makes sense. I noticed my butt being colder than usual. I'll have to add a tarp and quilt to my list one day. I like the simplicity/lightweight of just a hammock though.

both of these! when I am not too concerned about weight, I generally take a couple potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil, set those by the camp fire, or my Nalgean with water and heat that up... take it in to bed with me and it keeps me pretty warm.

rule #4 layer your clothes. multiple lightweight layers of synthetic clothing is much warmer than a few layers of heavy cotton clothes. plus as you get warm you can just peel off a layer.

    this too.

I usually wear a plain cotton t shirt or long sleeve, fleece pull over, and a nice wind proof shell jacket. Bottoms I wear long johns and depending on how cold it is, a real light pair of athletic pants and jeans over top. most times I just do without the athletic pants. That combo tends to keep me at just the right temperature. Key thing is not to sweat. Once you start sweating, you better get dried off quick

Good info^ On the coast it never got cold enough to worry about that kind of stuff. I'm in north MS now though, and the temp swings a lot between night and day.

This is kind of a weird question, but what kind of clothes do y'all sleep in?

Last weekend I was in athletic pants, polyester t-shirt, fleece pull over and a knit hat. I know the hat helps but its hard to tell about the others.

silk thermals/long johns, wool socks and a polar fleece hat on 'warm' nights....add in polar fleece top and bottom on cold nights. and I have a -10 bag that has been awesome and super comfy.

My hat is so tight it hurts my ears after a while, but it'll get a good stretching this winter. +1 on the wool socks. So I take it that clothes do help as long as they don't make you sweat.
