ah. gps is a different story. lol That is one thing I would mind investing in but boy... I have a hard time letting go of my maps. I will need to do the everglades at some point though. You ever have any issues with gators?

I haven't tried it in cold weather or high altitude yet. I'm going to Kentucky to the Cumberland Gap in a few weeks and it should be in the 20s at night. I'll give it a go then and let you all know.

I used my jetboil to "boil" water for meals and hot chocolate, and with the purchase of the frying pan, I've cooked up some Spam and Eggs:D

    Works Great!

Just spent a week camping in the Smokies, now I think maybe another in the Adirondacks.

An air mattress in the camper shell is my slice of heaven.

yeah Ive only tried Mountain house and a few Backpackers Pantry. The mountain houses are just sooo expensive! 6 bucks a meal adds up fast!

IMO you are better off investing in a nice backpacking stove and maybe a food dehydrator/ beef jerky maker. MRE's and prepackaged backpacking meals are way too expensive and moderately convenient at best. I really don't know anyone who uses them and I have been known to laugh at people who bust them out.

If you really want the meal in a bag go see what your grocery store has by way of instant side dishes in a bag, at least that only costs $1.25.
