Sounds fun! The weather should be nice. I've got my eye on a 40 mile trail. Just got to figure out who with and when.

that knife kicks ass. I have the same one in black and I love the versatility and toughness when I take it out backpacking with me. I use it for all your basic knife uses like cutting rope, making a hole in material, etc, but the best feature (IMO) is the thickness and toughness of it. I use it as an axe (obviously far from it) when I have thick pieces of wood that need to be cut down to fit in a camp fire ring I set up. It really takes a good chunk of out the wood with every hack and because its thick it doesn't feel like your damaging the knife at all, and it continues to hold its edge. It does really really well and definitely recommend it for any camper.

awesome! That is gonna be pretty sweet! 40 miles is a pretty hefty trip! Hope you are planning more than a weekend to get it done!

Sounds like a sweet knife! I love Gerber; I've had several of their pocket knives, never a fixed blade though. I have an SOG pocket knife now that's nice. Spring loaded opening, very sharp, and sturdy.

Yea, maybe 3 days if I really feel like pushing myself, probably 4 or 5 though. I've got 5 weeks off for Christmas so theres no need to rush. :D

Hopefully it gets a bit colder by then. I camped over the weekend at the paintball game I went to, mid 70s during the day, 50s at night...condensation is still terrible! Had some drippage in the tent from all the moisture getting caught on the rain fly. I'm thinking I need a few more stakes so I can pull the sides away from the inner tent, hopefully preventing moisture build-up.

Especially if I have another trip planned in the near future....why unpack when you just have to turn around and repack everything again?

i have everything organized and kept in Rubbermaid's Action Packers..one container is for food, snacks, whatever another container is for cooking stuff..pots, pans, plates, cups etc etc. another container if for the camping stuff such as propane bottles, tents, stakes, stoves, coffee maker, chem lights, flash lights and what not. everything stays packed and ready to go. all i have to do is grab the sleeping bags, big stove (which i forgot on our last outing) and pack the coolers. doesnt take long at all to get ready any more

these are great for keeping things packed and ready to go. you can get em in various sizes..

I doubt these will meet your needs for hunting. For everyday camping and storage these things are great. I even have one dedicated as my tool box for the trails

I have a similar packing system. But they still stay piled up at the front door week after week in the summer

Would a cooler work? some are air tight.

yes.. mainly because it is the fact that I am back... to the same old b.s. and I am rebelling because I came back...to the same old b.s. so I choose to do nothing. lol Hell.. I hate packing camp up because I know what is in store for me next.
