I used to take my Yellow lab with me once in a while when he was younger. I just brought my 2 man tent. Was just fine. Though it wreaked of the smell of dog and when he farted in he middle of the night it was all over.

Well, I'm going to start backpacking in my new hennessey, and she'll certainly be too big to want to take in the hammock with me.

I'm thinking a CCF or other type of pad for her underneath me leashed to the tree.

I have 2 Warbonnet blackbirds wrapped with a winter incubator UQ from hammock gear, as well as an overstuffed 3 season burrow TQ. For warmer weather I use my te-wa 3 season 3/4 UQ and I substitute a poncho liner as my TQ.

Both hammocks have had suspension swapped to whoopie slings. As for a tarp I have a Backwoods Daydreamer Winter dream v.2 with side pull outs for colder weather, and wrap it up with snake skins. For warmer/fair weather I have a WB small hex tarp. Both tarps are hung with a 1 piece ridgeline over the tarp. Both tarps also have self tension pull outs lines to stake out corners.

Well I'm a little dissapointed. I have a hiking/camping trip planned for next weekend in the Cumberland Gap and I'm thinking that this snow is gonna put a stop to my trip.

the hell with that! I am still taking my trip to the Gorge this weekend! :D Mother nature aint gonna stop me! haha

besides... this is why I bought my yak trax! So I can keep going across the slippery stuff!

Actually, the snow might be better than hiking in plain cold weather. You hae a little bit of insulation around you.

I have a friend who has one -- or something similar. She likes it and it doubles as a sleeping pad for her. But she's also short. (5'-3")

I personally don't care for them because I don't like to carry that kind of weight/bulk into the bush with me, and I'm too tall to use it as a sleeping pad. Not to mention they don't have a very good R rating (amount of heat they reflect, thus keeping you warm). And when I'm car/base camping, I have plenty of collapsible chairs that are much more comfy.

I think if you really like the idea of having a chair in camp, or if you'd use it for a long period of time (backwoods fishing, hunting, etc.) it would be worthwhile, especially if you can use it as a pad, too. Probably useful for boating/canoeing or overland trips where you'd rather not take up the space with a full collapsible, but weight isn't a major factor.

I have a buddy who had one and it was pretty sweet! I have a crazy creek knock-off which does the same thing for $5. Definitely mandatory for long trips in the back of the truck since that is the only real option for sitting comfortably inside.

sweet. I am going to check out that crazy creek one. I am currently carrying one of the $10 walmart stadium seats with the back on it that weighs 3 lbs and does not fold up well at all. I have a messed up back so I like to have something with a back on it when I get done with a hike.

Bestop, Child Seats, petrified french fry, dog hair, empty Mtn Dew cans cracked windshield, scratches.

This year for Christmas my son picked out tags with reindeer and Santas on them that said stuff like 'Don't open till Christmas' and "no peeking, we're watching you'. Stuff like that.

    My tag was Written:

    To: (Me)
    From: (Her)
with origional tag message "don't open till Christmas" with a hand written "Asshole!"

It's an odd pet name that she's given me but i'll take it.

REI has some really nice Dog Beds made specifically for the back country. They are really light and fold down really small like a regular sleeping pad. Plus they are self-inflating and insulated, so your dog gets a pad similar to your own lol

    Here's a link to one.
