That sounds like my wife. She has a set of down jackets like I have a set of sockets.

alright so i did another day hike today
i felt like shit for the last few days so what better them some exercise
started off and boy there was more snow / ice then i had planed for...
then as usual i missed a turn somewhat early in the day which threw off the rest of the day trip as i had planned..so all in all a great day and all got done just took a little longer this way
here are some pics of the day....
    i using this app EVERYTRAIL
and i really like it it maps you as you go. you can take pics of where your at and it adds them to your map.this is my second trip with it and today's experience was much better with the gps / battery drainage...after 6 1/2 hours i still has 47% battery life left....and i used phone for pics and such as well......
i have an external battery coming this week for longer trips and camera charging...

That is my back yard. I will be camping in an area very similar to that but a couple miles from Bear Mt in early April! I can't wait.

If you're ever in San Diego, these rocks would be available to you. Not recommended in Summer time heat though. :)

Wanted to use my REI dividend today to buy a 2nd pair of sunglasses....I have a pair of nice Costa Del Mar fishing sunglasses but I'll be spending the summer rafting so I needed a pair that I wouldn't care losing in case I should fall in.

But....REI didn't have the style of Sunclouds I wanted..I ended up ordering them directly through Suncloud. 50 bucks is okay with me! I'll save my dividend and 20% off for another thing I need for this summer.

Spending all next week camping out of my truck with boats, gear, and tons of random stuff. Should be a fun time.

    Just the basics
You know you can use the 20% coupon up to four times online with separate orders. If the item you want doesn't qualify for free shipping just have it shipped to the store closest to you and pick it up there.

    ;)

One of the things I ordered for an upcoming family camping trip:

Last year I got the snowpeak snowminer headlamp.

Cool thread! Can anybody recommend a good waterproof hiking boot that won't break my wallet?
    I have had these-
    http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/prod...=52254523391&gclid=CMOextyFm7YCFUVN4AodkAIAFA

-For about 8 or 9 years and they are great but the one boot got a hole burned in the leather, I guess I got a little too close to a campfire at some point. It's funny though, it didn't burn through the goretex so if I walk in any water my foot doesn't get wet but the one boot takes in water and gets really heavy... I'm considering just buying the same boots again but I was curious as to what others are using...

I don't think you'll find a better price than that! If they have served you well I'd say stick with what works.

I've always been a fan of Merrell shoes and also have a pair of Lowa Boots that I love but they are certainly pricy

Lowa quality has definitely taken a dive-which is a relative term-they're still great boots-over the years.

Just found out yesterday that the whole family ( about 30 or more of us) are not going to be able to camp where we have been planning for the past year. This spot is perfect, not too much traffic, locked gate, lakefront camping. Well this spot is perfect except the Village told me that there is no camping around. Actually they have said that no bikes, and a lot more rules that we were not aware of!!! This is bad news, going to have to find a new spot that is just as cool. Sorry about the rant, now we have to start all over trying to find a spot.

Don't know what ur looking for
    Hiking in car camping ect
But in Harriman it's only allowed within 300 feet of a shelter
That being said I know of a spot near or on a lake in the area I stayed at once but don't know about 30 people and I'm sure it's not legal but people go there
