I'm Just Real Careful WhenOut And Always Check Periodically. Luckily most Of The Ticks Around Here Are large And Easy To See And Don't Have LymeDisease. The Problem Is, It's The small Ones That Have It.

Did I Mention I Hate Ticks.

    Even More Then Poison Oak.

 I couldn't agree more... I had to have one surgically extracted from my scalp when I was little. Last year I was out in the spring and found three of them crawling on me  One while I was driving on the highway and I nearly wrecked trying to get it off of me. I finally scooped him up in my kleenex box and threw the whole thing out the window! :goingcrazy:
Nothing gives me the heeby-geebies more than ticks.

Best thing you can do is wear tight clothing - shirts with elastic cuffs and collars, keep your shirt tucked in and tuck your pant legs into your socks, keep a hat/bandana on and if you have longer hair keep it in a tight braid or ponytail. When you get home stand in the shower and undress (easier to seem then against the tub/shower than on carpet, etc) and put your clothes in a plastic bag and seal it off until you can do laundry. and comb (not bruch) you hair thoroughly.
and try to avoid walking in brush or high grass. stay in open areas.
    Yep, very interesting guy.

    Good Info.

I Had One Removed From My Head As A Kid, Though My Dad Just Held Me Down And Pulled It Out, Lol.

A Few Months Ago We Went hiking Where We Thought didn't Have Ticks, Got Home And Found One In The Cooler That Was Left In The Car, Wtf! So Then The Search Began, luckyNeitherMe Or My Girlfriend Had Any, But OnE Of My Dogs Did. We Got It Off Within A Few Hours So No Worries. The truck Got Bug Bombed, I Would Have Used My flame thrower But I LikeThe Truck Too Much.

    I'm jealous !!!
I was up in Maine a few weeks ago, but the population is too sparse there to catch sight of them easily.

He's actually pretty big, so are his brothers (at least I think they're brothers). There are three of them that hang out in the same area, see them every trip.

I thought Maine had lots of mooses?

    :woot: Have fun!

Sloth, I definitely wasn't, I was staying in Portsmouth, NH which is practically on the state line.... No Moose expert, it just seems you hear of them more commonly in other states than Maine.... I drove up into Maine and did some hiking and tried to get out as much as my free time would let me.... Hit the L.L. Bean flagship store in Freeport, their stuffed Moose was the only one I saw

Around Freeport and north is where you really start seeing them. We have an office in freeport, and I work there 3 days a week. I generally go fishing or shooting or something after work there. Usually see one about every other week. You mostly see then at night.

That's not really Maine anyways, at least according to the Down Easter's. More of an extension of mass and southern new Hampshire.

Yeah, I kinda figured that's how locals probably looked at it. Funny though, not long after you get into Maine you do notice things start to get really spaced apart. I wanted to hit that region of the AT in NH and Maine but I never did make it.

Go up into the county(aroostook) you are pretty much guarenteed to see some. I Lived in a small town in northern Maine next to Madawaska I regularly had them in my yard.

    That's real Maine

You'll see them for sure. They will make your butthole pucker up real tight when you come around a corner at night and one is just hanging out in the middle of the road.

    Too many to list now.
How big are your guys' moose down there in the states? Going to kill one or two this september here about 200 miles from home. We see them almost daily here in tiwn though and that one looks quite a bit smaller than what I'm used to seeing.
