Yep I know rail dust, my truck is covered in it:eek:, luckily on darker colors you can't see it. It could be the manufacturing process, but it can also come from residue form other guns. I work in a fab shop and we have to be extremely careful not to use any abrasive that has touched anything other then the same grade SS. A lot of people use steel wool not knowing it will contaminate the SS. scotch brite works very well, you can get it in differing grades similar to sand paper grit.

Hey guys, I need your opinion here. I have a small tent trailer, only 1350 lbs dry weight. I installed a wheel swivel on the front and without considering it may weaken the frame I drilled a hold in it so I could install it. Im not going to use the wheel now and the hole is showing. Heres a picture, do you think I should make a doubler plate or piece of channel to go over it and fasten it to it or something to make sure its not a weak point?
I know it was stupid but I didnt think before i did it

What size hole is that? Probably not. But, I would cut a piece of metal and bolt it or weld it the inside of the of the rail. Of corse, prime and paint it afterwards.

less then an inch, I would say no more then 3/4". Im probably just going to bend a piece of U channel to fit over it, about 6 inches long and either weld it to it or rivet it. Just to be sure. Thanks guys!

Anyone have a good recommendation for a waterproof pouch for gallaxy s3 for kayakin?

The aquapac looks to small, saw the otter box vault that look nice but cant see screen.

No personal experience. I have thought about getting a pouch for my Kindle and those are the ones I keep coming back to.

hey all, my wife and i are looking at doing a backpacking trip in the middle of May. probably near las vegas or pheonix as they are easy to fly to from calgary. I was just wondering if anyone has an idea of something easily reached without a vehicle that is 3 or 4 days long. any ideas would be awesome. we are pretty experienced hikers so the more challenging the better.

May is approaching hot in that part of the country.

Vegas will get you to Zion/Bryce with a bus trip. Valley of Fire is very close to LAS but again, probably going to be hot.

    No ideas on PHX.

Maybe you would get more response posting in the local BS threads for those two areas.

It's in the 90's to about 100 in May here in Phoenix. I'm sure it's the same for Vegas. I would not advise coming to Phoenix in May through September to backpack.
If you are wanting to hike in the early morning, Echo Canyon at Camelback is awesome. Best to go in the early morning around sunrise though.

We do have plenty of places in Northern Arizona that is a bit cooler in the Summer months.
