Winter wise...no matter what tent you have its gonna be cold. The eureka does good in the winter cause it vents very well so there is little to know condensation if you play it right. I have never heard of your pack but im a external frame pack fan:D

I'd be careful with Camp Trails. It was the WalMart brand before they started carrying Coleman. If it's 20 years old, it probably won't be very comfortable. I doubt the hip belt has much padding, and the straps will most likely cut into your shoulders if you load it up.

I'd be interested in hearing about the cookset...that's on my shopping list, right after a backpack. I'm torn between the GSI and MSR sets.

Right now I'm waiting for my REI dividend...once that comes in I will be purchasing an Osprey Stratos 24. I was leaning towards a Gregory Jade pack but didn't like the feel of the hip belt once I tried the pack on with a little weight added to it.

Im a little MSR biased:rolleyes: just because every single thing i have gotten from them has been great, and if it wasnt they fixed it for me. But you cant go wrong with either set. GSI set is really good especially the pinnical series. the lid is a strainer and they pack well. what MSR set are you looking at

for GSI I like the pinnacle base camper set and for MSR the alpinist. I just want pots and pans though...not too interested in the cups and everything else they try to throw in.

REI's deal of the day is their +20 Zephyr sleeping bag $65, and as a member you get an additional 20% off and free shipping to your local store. I just purchased one and I'm excited to try it out and write a review.
