oh.. new pack... having trouble deciding... found a kickass deal on a Kelty Redcloud ST 5000 for $160... Found a Gregory Baltoro 70 for $218. Which one should I go with? I am a die hard Kelty fan... kinda want to branch out a little bit. I have gone with a few guys that had Gregory packs and they seemed pretty nice!

camping situations: weekend long camps, year round, I usually weigh in low 20's during the summer high 20's low 30's in the winter.

I guess my concern would be the pack being too big for the minimal amount of gear I take (especially in the summer). I have checked out some sweet deals on Ospreys but i have heard the new padding on the back is killer on the skin. I tend to take a shirt of when I hike if it is too hot. Not sure how I feel about the Osprey line. they are nice but was not digging the padding when I saw them this weekend

So what do you guys think? Gregory or the Kelty?... or another pack you recommend?

both of those packs are going to be huge for what you are doing. My original pack is a kelty 5600 recloud, and I just bought a new pack this winter cuz the Kelty was way to large for my typical weekend excursions. Don't get me wrong, that Kelty is bulletproof and I have had zero problems with it, it was just to big for what I was doing with it.

My new pack is an osprey kestrel 38. It's ther perfect size for a weekend pack, and so far has been super comfortable. I have not had it out for more than a day fully weighted on my back, but so far no issues at all. And my initial impressions for it are super comfortable and super adaptable to gear size.

good luck, and throw a pic up of whatever you decide on

The barrel in Alum. with a insert. The gun has been around for a long time. they also made a pistol version of the gun with a 7in barrel. A good 22 pistol will out shoot the rifle. But it floods and does not rust. There are also mod kits for it.........................

    Ladies and Bruces...

    I need your help!

I'm camping right now, enjoying a beautiful sunset, and I'm sitting in my chair. I'm sitting and not laying in my awesome new hammock because the desert has no trees!!! I would be ok with 1 tree and tie the other end of the hammock to the truck, but do you know of a contraption that exists that will hold the free end of the hammock?
I will make something if I have too, but I'm not sure how to go about it...

    HELP!!!

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s
Yeah you can tie into the roof rack mount, or the top of your bull bar and around the tree.

edit or try the bed cleat/ D ring in the bed.

    I know

I have the truck for one end, but out here in the desert, trees are hard to come by.
    No trees
    No post signs
No rocks that I can tie off too

    I need somethin else

I may buy something or make something... But don't know of anything on the market

thanks guys. The size is what I was wondering about. Its hard to guess how much your stuff will take up because I often times switch up my gear. Pluss I will have a sleeping bag sometimes and sometimes not. I had seen the kestrel. I think I am going to go check it out. It would be a little weird bringing in my main items for camping and trying them out in every pack at the store. :p
    ^^ this... and....

Thanks for posting. I've looking for a pack and decided to pull the trigger on this one. Gander Mtn and Dick's have them for $120 so it should be decent quality. I'm no backpacking expert, but I'll post a review when I get it (hopefully Friday!).
