I would never sport a knife named for a poser like Bear Grylls. The guy spends the whole time sleeping in a hotel room, and most of his "scenarios" occur in State/ National Parks if not on a resort. Total faker, and I find it hilarious that his knife lives up to his name.

Has anyone tried out the machete that Gerber makes? I just spotted it for $20 and it has a saw on the back side. Might have to give it a try.

I hate Bear because of that reason... so fake! and idk about any of you guys... but if I am in a survival situation... you can bet my ass I am not getting anywhere near water, ice.... any of that crap that he purposely puts himself in... it ain't happening! Les Stroud on the other hand.. completely real. plus, he hauls all that camera gear around to top it off.

I have tried the Gerber machete. its so so... i didn't like all of the plastic on it and the thing dulls incredibly fast

why do yall carry machetes? There is absolutely no reason to carry one unless you bushwack through the jungle everytime you go out.

Awesome, mine brings my 15 degree bag down enough that i can sleep comfortable in -5 to 0 degree weather. i prefer to be a little chilly when i sleep though. but id say my model adds 10 to 15 degrees to the bag.

I keep it in the truck to break trail while scouting rivers. Flood plains get ripped bare so often they are normally covered in thick, pointy vegetation.

The best liner I have found is using that metallic insulation cloth material. Makes it look like you are sleeping in something NASA issued, but its a cheap DYI fix that works really well.
