I bring wine with me quite often. Usually if I'm backpacking with the GF. She's not much of a whiskey person, so wine usually has to be the beverage of choice. Beer just doesn't pack enough booze-to-weight ratio.

I usually pack whiskey in if I want to drink. Just sucks if you get so wasted you can barely function the next day and your back in the woods. Did that once... wont ever do it again

between 3 of us, we finished a 5th of jim beam and I drank 8 of the 12oz water bottle of jack. Had some Jamaican chicken Mountain House meal before that. Good lord that sucked the next day. We were walking out to the car the next day and the only way I could keep from getting dizzy is to look down, well... I ended up smashing in to this massive tree hanging over the trail... of course it was right at face level. I wasn't too thrilled.

hahahahahaha! thats pretty bad. I dont carry much alcohol back when I am camping just because getting that drunk then being sick the whole next day completely ruins the fun.

camping this weekend! :woot: It's just for one night but who cares....I'm so looking forward to relaxing around the campfire Saturday night.

But first I have to pack :goingcrazy:

Anyone else paranoid about forgetting to pack something critical when heading out?

Have fun! Hopefully no moose show up this time!

I am so paranoid about forgetting something crucial that I start packing a month in advanced and often pack/unpack about 15 times before feeling good about what I have... One trip I did that, ended up forgetting my boots at home. I was about 2 hours from my house too so my dumb ass had to stop at wally world and buy these cheap hunting boots. My feet were MISERABLE. I usually wear my tennis shoes or something in the car on the way and change when I get there.. thats why I forgot the boots. But... Have not forgotten them since! :p

I think I've forgotten my pillow a few times, my wool socks (to sleep in, if my feet get cold I don't sleep at all!), and my ax and saw (thankfully there was a town nearby with a used sporting goods store - they saved the day!)...oh, and one time I forgot to pack clean undies  oops.....

I don't think I could sleep under a tarp unless it was an absolute emergency situation ( I keep a tarp and rope etc in the truck at all times for an emergency shelter). I have to have something between me and the critters...even if it is just a tent wall.
