Dave, Thanks for the info in the show me your shell thread. So insanely helpful.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to wiring, although I did wire a bilge pump to a battery in my boat last summer. That's as far as it goes, but I would really like to tackle this myself- hopefully in a plug and play type way.

I'm looking to achieve a few things and would like to install it all at once and was hoping you could build something for me to make it all work seamlessly.

The cap is off my old truck and isn't wired in at all yet. Like I showed you, I do have the TAG fuse box in the cap.

I'm looking to wire the dome light to the oem bedight switch that is already in the cab of the truck so the dome and oem bed lights come on at the same time. The 3rd break light needs to be wired in as well.

At the same time, I would like to install an oem tailgate lock and the pop and lock for the leer canopy rear window.

    Hoping this all makes sense?

Can you clarify truck year and trim level? I'm thinking you're not talking about your '08 per your profile?

So one brake T and one bed T and then if you have already done or plan to do the Oem tailgate lock then maybe a lock T. Should be all set.

Sounds great- will I need to use the fuse box inside the shell?

So there is a harness for the fuse box with bare wire. Can you post a photo?

if you buy the pop n lock then connecting it to the TAG looks like this:

    B838A2A5-CBA7-4507-8D6D-B965993CAFC1.jpg

You can see I’m in dire need of doing my Deutsch flange.

If you want you can dm me for my address and send me the pop n lock harness and I’ll build it to match mine. Then you just tie in to the TAG harness wires with butt connectors and color match.

Oh, I guess I’d need the TAG connector as well, otherwise you’d have to get lock and unlock correct the first time or swap.

That sounds like a plan. I haven’t ordered the pop and lock, but I’ll do that this week.

Also- important part, I guess this was the main cap harness that was sliced into the wiring on my old truck. I should probably send this to you as well for a new connection. Photo attached, along with TAG box.

Your setup looks great! I just looked up deutsch flange connectors. Is there an option that will work for this? If I’m cutting holes in the bed, maybe this is the way to do it?

Yeah the 6 pin flange is a good setup. But you’d need to buy that crimper tool.

your harness looks like it’s missing the blue and green wire. Maybe order a new one? Or I can just rebuild it. I think they weren’t expensive though.

I’m not finding a 6 wire. Maybe I did mine custom. So yeah, order up your pop n lock and maybe ship me some parts and I’ll try to make mine like yours.

I have low brow bullets right now for the connections till I finish the flange setup. Too busy sending stuff to other dudes.

Ordering everything this weekend and will pop it in the mail to you as soon as it’s all in.

Should I order a 6 pin flange setup as well?

Yeah but you kind have to do all the flange stuff yourself. I haven’t done mine get there. So you’ll need a Deutsch crimper.

Copy that. I’ll hold off on the flange stuff for now. Just saw how much the crimper is for that.

Pop and Lock is in, the rest is on order. Should have everything in by the end of the week and then will send it out to you.

I have a knockoff $40 Deutsch crimper since I do so little there. Works fine. Also they come in stamped terminals if you want to use one crumper for everything. But I do like the solid terminals as they crimp so nice.

    Hey Dave,

Everything’s been delivered and I’m ready to box it up and ship it out to you.

Should I just send you the harnesses, or is it best to just send you everything?

Clockwise from bottom right. OEM tailgate lock body harness (you keep), OEM tailgate lock tailgate harness (you keep) -- unless you want me to swap gender on the ends as I did on mine, then it snaps into the tree and the female is the tailgate end. Open it up and look at it compared to the camera connector and see. Personally I think I am a bit more loco than the average human on wanting females on the tailgate side to match the camera. A zip tie is easy to cut if you have to remove the tailgate for some reason and it's not essential to have the body harness on the tree.

Bottom left is the TAG main harness, send me that and I'll pin it with lock and unlock. I can also stuff in whatever the 6th wire is and leave it as a bare wire for you.
Top left, not sure what that is, zip ties and T taps, keep that.
Next is pop-n-lock harnesses, you want to send me the piece which connects to the pop-n-lock portion top center. I think it's the one with the red female spades. It should be the shorter one. I'll cut off the bullets and crimp on the molex connectors for the TAG and try to match the length I used on mine.

Wire protector and actuator for OEM tailgate harness -- keep those.

Not picture: TAG connector for the fuse box where the lock/unlock feeds. There are two 2 way connectors up top or is it 3? I'll go check. One for lock/unlock, one for accessory power? I forget how the dome light and brake light stuff is wired. I'll go check mine.

You'd be on the hook to connect the bare wire ends of this guy to your source for brake, +12v, ground, lock and unlock (once pinned) using deutsch flange or just drill a small hole, feed it through, and heat shrink butt connectors inside the taillight cavity with some tessa tape or something. There's a solid frame ground above the rear wheel which is accessible without tons of work but likely too big a bolt for the ground hoop included in the TAG harness. And it's nice to have that removable with a waterproof connector rather than dangling if you remove the shell, though that's exactly what the deutsch flange is all about. Small hole and you're stuck with this thing dangling (can just wrap it in a plastic bag for water protection though, we mostly keep our shells on once we have them.)

Copy all above- I have it sorted and boxed. The TAG connector for the fuse box- is that something I'm missing, or is that what is connected here in the cap? Do you need any of what's connected here?
