took mine in today and showed them the TSB printed out. they called me an hour later and agreed, ordered the parts and will do it friday. hope it keeps it quiet for a while. It got very bad the past couple weeks and the grease stopped working. fingers crossed.

    thanks for the TSB

I had the TSB done almost a year ago. A few months went by and the squeak came back. Finally took it in and dealer did pretty much what you did, disassemble everything and grease it all. Makes me wonder when the sounds will be back..

i really like the idea about using a bolt to lower the pedal height - if OP is still out there, did you just replace the plastic stop? That's an unusual looking bolt in the picture. Looks like you may have glued something on top of the bolt head? I've had some success adjusting the play, btw - that's easy too - maybe it would save the bearing. Any more info on what size/type of bolt you used would be awesome. Nice work!!

Thanks for the write up OP! I've gotta do this myself soon.

That type of bolt is called an "elevator bolt". It's usually used as an adjustable foot for appliances. It has that square part under the head to allow a wrench to turn it. Think leveling your stove or dishwasher or similar.

The dealership non-solution is ludicrous. My 2nd gen had the clutch pedal squeak and a quick shot of silicone lube made it go away.

and the TSB work from 10 days ago has failed. Dealership is opening a case with Toyota, said they would probably just replace the same unit again but will ask for help from toyota first

I was surprised when I read that the tsb called for replacement of the pedal, master cylinder and other parts. What's the point in replacement when the new parts are identical to the old ones? It seems no parts have been redesigned since 2005. I like the OP's "disassemble and grease heavily" solution.

master tech at my dealership said the new tube was bigger in the replacement parts and that helped. I dont know what that is referring to and didnt care at the time since it was warranty work that only cost me a trip 5 miles down the road. I guess i'll wait and see what they say monday, let them try whatever and then do what the op did

If the tech forgets to grease or doesn't grease the parts enough the contact parts will rub dry and the squeaking and creaking will return. Its the type of pivot that Toyota has chosen to use for this clutch. In case the tech missed the grease points, you can check them yourself. Check the pedal to the plunger pivot, plunger piston to clutch master, and the slave piston to the actuator arm right next to the transmission housing.

Mine started creaking and squeaking a week after the tsb. dealership opened a TSA or TA or something with toyota and they took it back and gave me a rental for a couple days. they tore it apart and greased everything. ran hydrolic fluid through it twice and reassembled. two weeks later no squeak. but its only been two weeks. more to the point it goes with what your saying. Im hopefull. god I hope it doesnt come back

There's a good chance it will come back... It always comes back. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not in the next two months or 2 years. But it will eventually come back...

On mine I was getting a groaning noise when operating the pedal slowly. I greased everything I could with some spray lithium grease. In my case the culprit was where the push rod of the master cylinder contacts the pedal. The shot of grease at that point is what cured mine. It's been about 4 weeks with a silent pedal.

Had mine fixed under the TSB about 7 months ago; so far so good. It may eventually start creaking again, but at least it's on record as a problem with my truck. If it reoccurs, I'll take it back and have them fix it again.

I don't like doing the work myself, to fix a problem(s) that was created by the manufacturer. I have them fix it over, and over, and over...as many times as it takes. (edit: as long as it's under warranty, why not?)

I agreed with that. No doubt.

However, dealing with the waste of life service writers and manipulative service managers is not worth my time, to an extent... if I can do a fix cheap and easy on my own I will just to avoid their BS and save my own time.

Not to mention the service techs don't do things correctly, make a mess or/and damage the vehicle in other ways

I agree, it's a pain, and I don't enjoy taking my truck in.

On the other hand, Toyota (like every manufacturer) knows they aren't going to make a problem-free product and they use warranty repairs as feedback. The more often they have to fix a problem at their expense, the more likely they are to come up with a longer lasting solution. So, I put up with the inconvenience and take it in.

The first time I took mine in they re-greased it, which makes sense, and that seemed to fix it. Unfortunately, it came back in about a month. Since they did the TSB it's been quite; I hope it lasts.
