    I'm guessing @mesojdm has a shipping label machine at his house, with an account tied to his local USPS office. When he generates the label the information is sent to USPS and ultimately to us. When the package is dropped off at the post office it actually enters their system and the status changes. As soon as it leaves the post office the status changes again, and each time the package is scanned at a location the information is updated. Sometimes the packages move along so quickly the system can't keep up. Typically it takes 24 hours for updates to occur.

    Technically, if you are close enough, you could receive the package before you ever receive a shipping update. LOL
