    yes it really is that simple. You have to put a little effort into since you can only use your finger tips. Because of that, it is easy to drop the housing and damage it once you get it off the vehicle. There is a technique where you put a plastic shopping bag over the mirror housing first. That way, if you loose you grip it lands in the bag. Just make sure to have the handles wrapped around your fingers so you don't drop the bag once the housing falls into it.
