..do you guys hike to get up there?.. i remember a trip or two i did to winterpark, ...and i've never seen so many skiers/boarders hitchhiking alongside the roadway... i imagine most were trying to get back up to pass level..?...

yes most of the runs drop you down to US40 that goes over berthoud pass...i got sick of snow shoeing up there, so i went with the splitboard...but ascend up, ride down then either hitch back up or depending on where you are, skin or snowshoe back up...

a lot of areas there to access depending on how far you want to go

do you guys ski down from the crest of the divide, or from that "colorado mines" peak on the eastern side?... looks like there might be more north-facing area on the eastern side..?... anyway, i just remember, that berthoud pass seemed like a popular backcountry spot for locals for some reason... don't remember hearing as much buzz about, say, loveland pass...

Got some skins for the new skis.
BCA are awesome to deal with. Was able to use my pro deal and they hooked me up more. I got drunk thought it was a good idea to try to fit and cut them to my skis and made one way to short, problem because their rubber hardware only stretches so far. So stopped by today they hooked me up with a new skin just a reverse mis print they can't sell and cut them for me while I was there.

Nice, I have the same pair. They work great!
I bought them to fit underfoot and they are narrower in the tip and tail. That way I didn't need to cut them. No need for them to be cut perfect to the sidecut

Yeah my skis are really different though 130 or 140 I forget tip 113 under foot and 120 tail. I like as much coverage for when I'm going up super steep stuff. We used the g3 cutter that angle cuts so the edge is exposed.

I messes up cutting the tail I made it too short.

    I'm tip:151
    underfoot: 119

That's good to hear they do well, I like to support local business, I might buy a set for my shamans too.

I have g3 skins for my other skis but I don't like the tail hardware. The BCA looks like it will be much better. Luckily the glue on the g3's is amazing.

Yeah this is my second year with them, still holding really well. I always dry them and stick them together and they are still crazy hard to pull apart. The glue is top notch

My family and I attempted to leave Phia Int. Airport this morn for 4 days of skiing at Steamboat Springs Co. And are currently stuck in Dallas Tx.
This is turning out to be the worst vacation of my life. U S Air has now sent the only two bags we checked to Vail Co. They have also failed miserably to get us to Hayden Co. They have us tentatively scheduled on a flight from Dallas to Hayden at 10:40 tomorrow morning. We are now stuck in a mediocre hotel in Grand Prairie Tx. with no extra clothing or toiletries.
I love skiing, it is a passion of mine and I don't get the opportunity for a Western ski adventure but for about every 5 years or so. The Pocono Mts on the east coast are no comparison to the skiing in the Rockys !
To end my rant, I pray all goes well tomorrow, if not we are headed back to Phili.
    UGH

Man that sounds like such a nightmare! I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope everything turns around tomorrow and you get some great conditions while you're out there.
