So jealous we haven't had any real snow here in New England. All man made stuff on the mountains.

Big Bear was a blast the last two days.

Snow Summit had a good 2-3 foot base and good coverage everywhere. Great for us to get a run in before Mammoth next week.

I grew up in NH and have been getting hate mail from friends. Today was blue bird and still skiing deep. Took both of these this morning hitting up some stashes with friends.

I will be heading to Killington in February instead of Utah this year (long story, quite disappointed). We will be taking my truck. I need to get a good ski/snowboard rack to hual my gear. On the way up it will be just my board, but when we get to VT I will have 3sets of skis to tote as well. What should I look for in a rack? Keep in mind I don't do this but about once a year (being I live in SC). I don't need to break the bank, I do want reliability though, and locks.

I also don't plan on roof mounting these. I am having a set of bed bars made so I can keep them accessible. I may or may not need to modify mounts depending on what I get. The bars are going to be 1.75" tube steel.

Spend the money and get a Thule or Yakima cargo box instead of the ski racks. My Thule box can fit 5 snowboards with bindings and everyone's boots and jackets too. But most importantly, they are locked up and safe from the weather. The road salt they put on the roads really fucks up ski and snowboard equipment. Plus boxes are more secure against theives. And it's useful for any season of the year for road trips and camping and stuff, instead of the ski racks that can only hold skiis/snowboards/fishing poles.

I'm considering a trip to Lake Tahoe this coming Feb, and was looking for suggestions on ski places. I've been there many times, but have never skied Heavenly. Always looked crowded. Been to Kirkwood, nice place, good people. Skied NorthStar, but got my car marooned when it started to snow. The chain-patrol came out and I wasn't allowed on the CA roads until I went all the way back to Nevada and found chains for my rental. Nevada roads were plowed and clean, which made no sense to me.
Anyways, Anyone have suggestions for skiing if I'm staying on the South side of the lake? Also good cheap places to stay? Thanks Gents.
