It’s really wild how little sound dampening Toyota applied on these trucks from the factory.

    To the OP: Cool project!

I think that's really cool! For those who may not realize three decibels is actually a pretty good reduction in noise. To put that in perspective that is nearly a 15% equivalent to what my Howard lights give when I am shooting a 300 win mag of a shooting bench.

    Sweet mod!

Certainly appreciate your work and due diligence in this project ! How long was your truck out of commission doing the installation ?

    this is interesting.

sooooo, @greenEFSI what im hearing is, i can bring you my truck and you can do a lesser/quicker version of this to mine? happy to pay ya fair money for the work. all this looks pretty solid to me.

basically - dynamat only, none of the liner stuff, and only the inside, nothing for the doors. happy to pitch in and help or leave it there overnight if the truck requires X amount of time one day and X amount the next. if its just the basic dynamat and its just the interior and not the doors, maybe thats just one day of working?

@greenEFSI that was quite the undertaking of installing and documenting the process. Job well done!

Like you I was taken aback with miminal use of sound deadening on the floorboard and total absence of any material on the roof, doors and backwall.
Coming from a Dakota to the Tacoma it didn't take more than a week of ownership that I knew I had to do something to quite that new to me truck down. That was 12 years ago and the first mod done to my truck.
Turned out to be a major improvement for ride enjoyment. That includes noise and temperature control. Another thing I really like, is when I tap on the roof or doors it's a solid "thud" sound instead of sounding like a tin can.

    I used a two part system from B-Quiet https://b-quiet.com/

First Part - placed anywhere/everywhere I could stick it.
    https://b-quiet.com/collections/frontpage/products/b-quiet-ultimate-50-sound-deadener

Second Part - using 3M spray adhesive, was placed on top of the the first part that included the backwall, floor, roof and on/in the doors where I could.
    https://b-quiet.com/collections/frontpage/products/vcomp

I didn't take one picture, which makes me appreciate your efforts even more, because I know what it takes just to do this project.

    Again, Very Well Done!

Nice work! Blows my mind how there is little to no sound dampening throughout the cab stock.

Thank you! Photo & video definitely tack on some extra time haha. The tin can noise on the roof during the rain was always something that drove me crazy.

Just added third gen door seals between the two doors on each side, and installed the updated tsb front door seals to further cut down noise in the cab. Time to do the final before and after db measurement on the freeway, and I'll have all the info I need to make the last video on this entire project.

Loooooove deadening mods. Very nicely done here man. Did the same in my 21 (and my 87 Supra) but with Second Skin. Fantastic results.

Did that about 6 months ago. Most recently I pulled the door panels and tapped/sealed off the 3 bolt openings that hold on the side mirrors. Yes, it helped as well. Too simple not to try.

Your videos are going to help a lot of Tacoma owners out there. Thank you!

I was able to get that final decibel reading today.

    Stock 78.9db
Sound Deadened Cab (doors still stock) 75.7db
Sound Deadened Cab & Doors Plus New Seals 74.1db

    In other words
Sound deadening the cab dropped 3.2db
Sound deadening the doors plus new seals dropped 1.6db
Total db drop after full sound deadening project was complete 4.8db

Around $1400 on sound deadening materials and around $900 on the audio system.

    Thank you!
