Incredible write ups & even more incredible work on the truck! I've been following you on Insta for a while now and have always been blown away by how thoughtful you are with your modifications and how professional they look once complete. Your truck is gorgeous man!

I did the same, but used Noico butyl sheets and Noico closed cell foam on top of the sheets.

    Pretty significant difference.

I did some work on a locals 3rd gen (new suspension install) and was surprised with how loud it was. I kept thinking a window was open.

Nope, just that much of a difference with some sound deadening material.

@greenEFSI did you do anything for the windows?

I've read that people will do a strip of butyl on the bottom of the window, where you can't see it, and that it helps absorb quite a bit of vibrations.

I haven't heard of anyone using butyl on the glass, but I did a db sound test in my wifes 2014 bmw and it is 1.8db louder than my truck cab. I'd call that a win and just run with it. The only way to truly improve the sound of glass is to have thicker glass, or airspace between two sheets (like home windows) which probably isn't even a possibility.

Nice work. I did the back of the cab and doors last year and need to address the rest of the cab at some point but I have a bunch of other more pressing things to deal with first.

Did you do the pool noodle trick, stuffing between cab and bed?

I had the majority of the material for a year before I could muster up the energy to get it done lol. Definitely worth it in the end though!

That’s a third gen issue due to the air vents being in the center of the back cab wall.
    IMG_7847.jpg

Second gen double cabs have one vent on the passenger c pillar. I ended up stuffing audio foam in the rear c pillars to dampen the sound.

Hahah my bad. 2nd gen or not, it's a hell of a lot quieter than my 3g

I did the pool noodle trickover a year ago, but I was never sure exactly where to stuff it. I placed them vertically on the DS and PS between the bed and cab. Seeing the post from @N64_Wallmaster got me thinking and that got me to searching.

That search revealed that I didn't do it right. I found that the noodle is supposed to go horizontally between the bed and cab. I had one noodle left over so I went out crawled under my truck and stuffed it!

While under there I noticed that the vent on my 07 AC is dead center on the back wall of the cab. See the attached "borrowed" picture showing (circled in red) where the vent on my truck is.

@greenEFSI again, fantastic job on documenting this project!

No problem! I forgot to clarify that the 2g access cabs benefit with the noodle trick

did you leave some areas for it for it to drain off water? Might end up stagnating on bar with road grime and potentially rusting the door through in that area. Water by itself isn't too bad (unless it's constantly raining). Water with dirt and mold makes a wet paste and that's what you wanna avoid. If it's. Only touching dynamat and no metal in that gap then not an issue tho

The inner door skin has a huge single sheet of dynaliner, over the dynamat and butyl rope, from top to bottom. Any moisture will wick down to the drains since it is water resistant material.

Super quiet even with those tires. Keeping it all outside. Great job all around.
