I am buying an ultragauge for my wife's subaru. So... i get one for my taco and she can not say no.

    MX or EM?
now that they are at version 1.4 what did the MX unlock that the EM didn't have stock and what are each of you driving?

I have a 2004 4 door sr5 4x4 offroad. I car most about AT temp, TC temp, HEAD temp, oil temp, oil pressure. Also fluid level alarms. I hope some of these are options are programmable on the new MX but I can not find a good resource. All i see on the EM is coolant temp.

I hear the gen 1s added OBD sensors throughout the years and models. So please specify what UG version and model you have and what Taco year and model you have. I will consider another brand if people suggest it, but only if it is hard wired into and powered solely by the OBD2 port.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    EDIT:
    1
I see repeatedly "Manufacturer parameters typically cannot be accessed on Vehicles with 9141 and KWP2000 protocols/interfaces." and the 2004 taco was 9141.
    Yet on this PDF: https://ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/support/UG-MX1.4-Supplement.pdf
It lists the 2004 and earlier nonCAN tacos to have a option for autotrans temp. So perhaps this is the one lone additional measurement.

    2
The EM model says "Oil Temperature - The oil temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit." as a built in option "up to 2015" but fails to say what the start date is for that. I assume there is no oil temp sensor on gen 1 tacos.

The only one that can be hand entered is outlined here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/gen-1-2004-tacoma-ultragauge-mx-transmission-temperature.581841/

I suspect the preprogram option of "Toyota Tacoma/Tundra CAN" is not helpful a gen 1 taco, even the 2004 as 2004 and prior appears as 9141 but I see talk of later gen1s deviating from that.

OP - did you get the Ultra Gauge? What parameters were you able to read on the 04?
