The ultra gauge keeps telling me there is no fuel sensor. I just barely got it and hooked it up do I really have to tell it how much fuel I have every time I fuel up or am I doing something wrong.

No fill up completely and hold the up arrow until it says fuel fill up on the screen. If you set your tank correctly and always fill it full you can just do this. If you only put in a certain amount of gallons then you need to manually enter the amount in.

It's not so much that you're doing something wrong, as you don't seem to understand how the UltraGauge works with your truck. Spend some time with the owner's manual.

    Spot-on.

What about wireless vs. plug in? On the Ultra gauge it says the one you plug in has to be taken back to be updated when an update is available but the wireless option you can update yourself with the app.

Which is better for my 04 Tacoma DCSB 4x4 3.4 V6? Price wise and user friendly wise? Ultra gauge or Scan gauge? I would also like to see the tranny temp.

The wired version can only be updated by returning it to the factory. Updates are, however, "required" only if you WANT any new functionality being offered.

There's a chart that actually shows which gauges apply to your exact vehicle somewhere. Also you should've known you don't have the smart fuel by not having anything that says how many miles you have left on your tank from the factory. Once you get it all calibrated right it's pretty easy to understand and gain features like that via the UG. For those wondering I have the wired in my Tacoma and waiting on the wireless one for my new car

Well I understand what he saying but I thought it would read your fuel off of your ECM. I think that's preposterous that you have to enter it manually every time and tell the instremt how much fuel it has. It's blasphemy

While your fuel sending unit may be electronic the actual part that measures the fuel level is not so there's no way for it to read it off your ecm

    Spot-on!

How is it the Ultragauge's fault that our trucks are not equipped with an ECM-readable fuel sensor? NO aftermarket gauge can read a sensor that ISN'T THERE.

EDIT: It's worth noting that the several seconds required to manually adjust the UG when filling up results in readings far more accurate than the those provided by the ECM sensor readings in my 2013 Shelby and my wife's 2011 BMW. Neither of those is adjustable and both ECM estimates are off by ~10-15%. My UG is accurate to within ~1/10 of a gallon (less than 1%), with correspondingly accurate "Miles to Empty" estimates.

Plus it's really not hard to hold the button for a fuel fill up for 3 seconds

IIRC, transmission temp is available on the Scangauge, but not on the Ultragauge.
