Ultragauge Calibration settings

Sorry I did the wrong tire sizes so I deleted the post... Gotta run, I'll check back on here later. But yes your last statement looks correct to me. According to my calcuations it was 9.63 but use that tire calculator and the circumference difference % is what is going to make your difference.

 

Called Tacoma dealership - they were able to check my Vin Number, came with 265/70r16.

so the difference is 6.4%.

 

and I thought my OCD was bad.

Now the letters are in alphabetical order, the way it should be.

 

i am thinking about getting one of these units - but a few questions-
when you fill up the tank, do you need to tell the unit you filled up? what if you only partially fill your tank? will it still accurately display dte?

also where is the best place to mount this thing? i was thinking in front of the trip odo at the base of the speedo

Yes! you have to press a button or two. Same as ZERO your average MPG or trip miles.

The Taco does not have a "smart" fuel level sensor so the UG has no clue that you have filled up.

The "hold the up button" works for a full refuel, but if you only drop in $10, there is a "partial refuel" option under the gauges menu.

I was noticing that my fuel consumption is changing. Winter gas maybe ? I installed the UG during the summer months and calibration went pretty smooth. I was watching the gallons used compared to the gauge in the truck and they seemed pretty close. 10 gallons for about a half tank. Now this is changing. Notice I burn beyond a half tank and my UG says I'm just hitting nine gallons used.
I adjust the calibration (I keep track) and next fuel up I have similar discrepancy. Anyone else experiencing this ?
Is anyone adjusting fuel calibration frequently ? Or just leave it the same year round ?

Vacation last week from CA to TX, my actual varied both + and - 1 compared to the UG.
It's normally close here at home.

 

Yeahp - my UG is normally about 1.5-2 AVG off from my dash.

 

If it's "normally" off, then it's time to tweak the calibration.

In my case, it was driving conditions totally out of habit, and fuel from four different states.

 

Well considering my tire diameter differs, i just don't care.

When I had the stock Dunlops on the truck P245/75/16, my speedo was off 2 mph on the slow side. Driving 60 was actually 58 verified with gps. Put larger tires on LT265/75/16 and that made the speedo correct with the gps, but the odometer is off because of the larger tire. Did the distance calibration on the UG at 4 miles and my average miles per gallon is only .2 off from calculating it by hand.
