Just read through the last 8pages of this thread. Don't go with the basic. It is a waste of money with this group buy price. Either get the plus or the MX. The Plus will give you a few more performance numbers to monitor. The MX 's only advantage is being able to read the tranny temp. If you tow something alot I suggest the MX to be able to monitor the tranny otherwise just gobwith the Plus.

Just figured out the configuration. Little involved, but not too bad once you get started.

Obviously I am no great photographer, but here is where I put mine. Took me longer to think about placement than it did installing it. I was able to route the cable to the left of the OBD port, above the kick panel, up the A-pillar and above the visor. The cable just tucked behind the weather strip and moldings and isn't visible. Now I just need to figure out the settings.

This was done using the horizontal mounting bracket. I can still use the sunglass bin without any problems.

I think that the ambient air temp is only available if the vehicle's computer has that as an output. I looked for it too, but didn't see it. Even though I think our trucks have a thermometer behind the grill. I, too, am still learning as well.

I really bought the gauge for the MPG function, everything else is a bonus. Ill admit, I was confused and frustrated setting it up ( I was making it WAY more difficult than need be. The website had me doing this tutorial with a test and I had to fill in about 60 boxes of factory codes.....) I had 2 pending trouble codes beeping when I hooked it up (EGR stuff) which really pissed me off (its a BRAND NEW TRUCK) but I cleared them and have had no problems since.
There is SO much data being displayed... I almost rear ended someone today as I was watching the numbers change. Bad me. 8*(

I've had mine for almost two years. Given our inadequate gauge cluster it's a good tool for keeping a eye on the engine.

Does anyone have a quick rundown on how the setup or calibrate to get accurate mpg data ? I get the no fuel sensor detected so I know this has to be manually inputted, but need some direction from there. Thanks !

Try and begin by calibrating your distance/odometer. Let it default at 1.00, and the traditional way to calibrate is to start at a mile marker, set distance to 0, then drive about 10 miles. For example, after you reach the 10th mile marker you know you have traveled 10 miles, and your UG might say 9.7. So you will go to setup (Can't remember exactly which menu) and enter true distance traveled, it will do the math for you. Mile markers are recommended because GPS systems can't always be exact due to corners and curves. However, if you know you're going on a long straightaway, you can also use the GPS odometer and compare it to your UG's distance reading.

MPG is the same way. Fill up to auto-shutoff at the pump and set your UG to full tank (21.1?) before you use any fuel. Drive around and at the next fillup go to the same pump and let it auto shut off again. Go to your setup and calibrate MPG. It will prompt you to "enter true fuel used" and you will adjust the estimated amount to the correct number of gallons, which would be what that tank just shut off at. Do this a few times with the same pump to get an average reading because it's nearly impossible for them to shut off at the same level each time.

    So in summary,
    1. Let UG use its defaults
    2. Track your distance/fuel in a reliable, accurate way
    3. Calibrate by entering true values vs UG estimates.

Done! Recalibrate every once in a while to keep things in check!

Thanks for the run down. I'm sure I would have been asking someone when I get mine. Speaking of..... Do you have an estimated delivery date?

I'm curious what other people are seeing for their transmission temperature in degrees Fahrenheit when not pulling a trailer? I just connected my UG and i'm seeing about 150 after a 30 minute highway drive. Is this what others typically see with no trailer? Thanks
