I think I would agree with that.

There are charts floating around that suggest anything above 175°F for a sustained period of time will shorten the life of the tranny quite a bit.

I towed a 3500lb trailer up and down hills and barely eeked over 200°F, but it stayed there for some time.

Really at 175F? It gets up to 175 on a hot day with AC on- with just myself and the truck. I've also read that factory transmission oil light comes on very late at 300F+ or so

Just pulled my 2500lb + trailer through the mountains aruond Chatanooga into Kentucky. Transmission temps went just a bit above 210 only while going up the mountains. (4th gear, 5spd automatic) but cooled down to low 100's going downhill almost instantly. This tells me my cooling hardware is doing it's job. Enroute from FL to TN, typically about 190 or so, (engine & tranny) & it was in high 90's outside.

^^^ This makes me wonder about how well my cooler is working. If I hit 200°F the temp will not drop back below 150°F unless it sits overnight. Thinking a bigger cooler is the way to go.

Maybe, maybe not. Remember I was going down hill, 65 mph, no Load on the engine / trannie. Mine typically hovers around 180-190 summer or winter (again in Florida). Temps (outside) range from mid 20's to upper 90's farenheight.

Or add a fan to the stock cooler. I got some high quality server 120mm fans that would work perfect for it... 220cfm.

The output format should be changed to 10 for Fahrenheit. Keeping it at 00 is for Celsius

No prob, I did the exact same thing and for some reason the numbers didn't seem right. I double checked the manual and sure enough I had to change the output number.
