Some people love them, some people think they're a rip off.

Personally, I use a cheap ELM bluetooth adapter and my phone or a tablet with the Torque app. Only downside with a tablet is the startup time and you have to bypass the battery power.

Depends what gauges you want to use. I have one I like it over scangauge. As someone said above though you could get a Bluetooth monitoring gauge for cheaper

Years ago, I bought an Ultra-gauge. While it worked great, it was mounted to the windshield and EVERY TIME it fell off, it broke one or more of the mounting brackets. Cost wasn't so bad but shipping was very expensive. I left them comments telling them about this but never heard back from anyone. The last time it broke, I quit using it. Pretty sure they make more money on selling replacement mounting parts than the gauge itself. YMMV.

I have mine since May 2021. Stuck it under the AC control with the support with the 3M glue pad. Never had any problem and i have some good temperature range with the -30c Winter and the +35c summer.

The only thing i need to do twice a year is to reset the gas calibration when they switch for the summer or winter fuel. I have no idea how many PID is available for the 1st gen but i can say for the price it's a great tool.

What are you trying to get a reading on? I have an SGII which does everything I need. Not sure what the price difference is between the SG and UG :notsure: But realistically after cycling through various gauges, I have ended up with coolant temp, trans fuild temp, and short and long fuel trims. I did have mpg for awhile, but I am not disciplined enough to do the fillup routine everytime.

UG is a fair bit cheaper but I'm not sure why....it even has a bigger interface which is nice, the SGII which I have as well can be a pain to toggle through everything, especially if you're trying to input codes into it

I liked the Torque app, just a few bucks for the app (also a limited free version) and a ~$20 obdII dongle and you're set.

But, if you leave it up it drains your phone battery quick...not to mention I still haven't figured out a reliable phone mount so handling it was a pain. But it was much easier to access stuff like fuel trims and emissions monitors than it is on the SGII. Haven't used an UG myself.

All mine did was make me obsess over what my ECU was seeing for fuel trims and the like. I still use it occasionally if I need to pull a trouble code.

I use the OBD Fusion app on an old iPhone my wife was going to toss and a Bluetooth dongle. I was only concerned about engine and AT temps while towing a UHaul when I configured this but the app can do way more monitoring and reading/clearing codes. The phone and dongle fit in the center console when not in use so I always have them with me JIC.
