I am planing on having some interior lights in the soon to be completed truck cap for my '17 DCSB.

Can anyone confirm if there's a un-switched 12v source under the passenger side kick panel?
The LEDs I'm planing to use draw very little current, so I'm thinking maybe tap into the courtesy light power?

The cap will have a 3rd brake light (tapped into the trailer lights), so there will be a connector between the cap and bed. I might as well make up a 4 contact plug set to include the cap lights.

Down the road, I'm planning to add an electric lock to the tailgate and also high output LEDs in the rear bumper covers, so while I have it apart, I'll pull all the needed wires at the same time.

do yourself a favor, just put a good 10awg wire fused right off the battery to the back of the truck. This will give you options for a proper 12v power source at the bed and bed lights.

My 12v bed socket and bed lights are the most used mod on my truck great for powering a 12v compressor, 12v pumps for air mattresses, chargers etc etc.

I just ran an extra wire from the battery along the drivers side frame rail. Added switch's in the bed. 20200604_201444.jpg

I'm putting together a plan for a power distribution fuse block under the hood and and new wire to the rear of the truck.
Is there any reason for not running the new wires down the driver side frame rail?
