I currently live in Guam and purchased a new 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport. the dealer told me that car play and android-auto was a feature of the truck. I get home and try to connect and it says unavailable. I had called the dealership back at the service department and they said we disable both carplay/ android-auto and navigation. The guy in service department said over the phone you can just buy a wire or something to override what they did in the dealership. can anyone help with what wire or work around for this. Thank you!

Why? Probably because there are no maps on the in truck NAV for Guam?

I'd be getting the dealer to re-enable the system. You bought the truck with it, I see no legal reason for them to be allowed to disable it. Just because Toyotas NAV sucks (and it really does anyway) doesn't mean you should be denied using your Car Play features, which would also include the GPS component based on your phone.

I think that is what I am going to have to do it seems a little odd. I called main land toyota and they quoted me 7800 dollars for a new head unit. seems a little crazy to purchase a brand new truck and pay 8 grand for a new head unit.

Yes, and anyone who would do that is nuts.

Google 'Apple Car Play Guam'. You'll find Toyota is the only OE with this problem. Other brands work just fine.

It probably has to do with some distracted driving law there.

Better off without it. I finally got my son to get it going in my Truck and now I can't turn that sh*t off for nothing.

Doesn't make sense! Your phone has to be plugged in to use car play.

Right when I plug it in to charge it goes to CarPlay which I despise - thought I would like it but I don't.

Go into your headunit settings and turn carplay off. Problem solved.

Have you pulled the head unit? It would seem as if they wouldn’t dig to deep to disconnect anything.
