Unbalanced tires/shaky steering wheel bad for the truck?

    So nomatter how many times I get my freaking tires re-balanced or the wheels aligned, I still cannot get rid of the shakes in the steering wheel at ~65mph. it kills me, since I'm on the highway everyday to and from work. Idk what the deal is- the tires are new. I know that there's balancing issues with the tacoma...?

    Will driving the truck all the time with this slight shake ruin anything or rattle my truck apart? I'm just getting tired of bringing it back to the balancing shop every month with no result.

    I have the same exact problem. My truck shakes from 65-70mph. Anything below that and it is not noticeable. Anything above 70mph and it start smoothing out. I put in new tires and had them balanced and it still does it. I then removed my brush guard and it's still there.

    My next attempt will be new steering rack bushings and shocks since they are shot. I hope that fixes the problem, let me know if you come up with a solution as it is very annoying. Anyone else with suggestions on what to look out for?

    I just got new shocks, it's not that. I read on here that there's a lot of wheel-balancing issues with our tacomas... kind of hard to believe that no tire shops can get these alignments right....? I'm sure it's the tires/wheels, not the steering or anything. Some of my tires are better balanced than others I guess, because when I rotate them, I can feel a difference depending on which ones are up front.

    stock.....for now...
    go to a different shop to get the alignment and tire balancing checked.

    Also, could any of your ball joints or tie rods ends be worn? I have a little shake/squirm at speed and its due to a worn outer/inner tie rod on one side.

    From your profile I see you have OME 880 front suspension, not enough to throw off an alignment (usually 3''+ of front life require new UCA's)

    01: OME 881s, Dakars, greasable shackles, Nitrocharger sports, extended exhaust hanger, BAMF BPV relocate, Wheeler's extended brake line, rear diff breather mod, swaybar removed, Pilot backup lights, Redline hood struts, 4Runner 5-stars, Hidden Hitch Class III, 7-pin marine-grade wiring
    ^^^ go to another shop. Yours are idiots. Don't know what kind of wheels you have, but the aluminum TRDs are kind of notorious for trikcy balancing, but I founfd a shop that could do them on a standard dynamic balancer without any tricks or adpaters. Just skill.

    If you have cheaper tires, it is possibel the are defective or difficult to balance, but they should still be able to do it.

    Go to a different shop and specify dynamic balancing.

    5100's all around, fronts at 1.75". TSB leaf pack + Toytec TSB AAL
    I was getting a vibration at points and it seems to have been due to my lift and drive shaft angle. After digging into it, I've minimized any vibrations on the driveshaft, and the steering wheel shaking has been greatly reduced if not totally removed. Just a thought...

    I gave my tire place all sorts of crap for this, and in hind sight, it could have been caused by the drive shaft after the lift....
