Unbeliveable!!

Some damn fine writing going on here. Nice reads, sometimes.

 

I appreciate that BioMed (and others), but I don't deserve praise. I'm just a normal guy that is trying to remind a few folks why we fought the American Revolution - taxation without representation (sound familiar?). And the REAL reason we in the South seceeded from the Union - the federal government was stepping on what were the rights of the individual states. And if you thought the Civil War was all about slavery - FAIL!

All of the problems from the civil war might have had the same answer, but the point is that the federal government has NO place imposing those answers. The individual states know best what works for them.

A very subtle but profound change happened after the civil war when Lincoln stopped saying "The United States 'are'..." and started saying "The United States 'is'..." Remember, the framers designed this country to be a union of individual states and I, for one, would love to go back to that!

 

It's amazing how many people don't understand that. What's funny is this "change" is actually not "Change" it's going back to the way things were prior to the way this nation was set up to run. which is the reason why it was set up that way.
