Hi everyone I recently purchased a pre owned 2017 Tacoma SR5. I’m planning on getting my frame and underbelly sprayed, would this void my Toyota frame warranty? If so has anyone gone to a Toyota dealer for their undercoating? I called my local dealer and they quoted me 450 green back:((

Stay away from any type of rubberized undercoating,
Do not pay for the Dealer undercoating.
Even if you get the Toyota frame warranty campaign corrosion treatment, still get a yearly oil spray coating done.

Oil and Cosmoline based corrosion systems work the best last, the longest.
Lanolin based (Fluid film Woolwax) sprays work good but will wash off the soap and water so don't last as long in high water spray areas.

Paint on and Yearly touchup and systems (Zeibart) do not work as well on the Inside of the frame and cab mounts that builds up water and mud. And does not get into all the other nooks and crannies.

    Electronic systems do not work.

If you do annual treatments to your truck you,
will never have to worry about the frame warranty, and may also save yourself some electrical problems too (ADD and electrical connector gremlins)

    This will get you started

Oh and to answer your original question...

Technically changing anything from Toyota spec'd or approved materials / parts COULD void your warranty. BUT

Never heard of anyone that had their frame fixed by Toyota have any criteria besides the size of the holes in the frame from corrosion....

But then again... people that treated their trucks properly with a corrosion protection system, didn't have any rust issues....

I use a commercially base frame and fender well spray dressing that detailers use. This stuff is like tire dressing, hard to wash off, repels water, somewhat thin and spray able, oil based product and repels dirt. I use a pump sprayer and give it a nice light coat on the frame and fender wells. Results after almost 3 years and 20k miles later is my underbody is still shinny black new, no rust or build up of grime. It works for me here in Va.

Spray it yourself...cosmoline, fluid film but like another member said: stay away from anything rubberized type, it traps moisture under and will actually speed up the rusting process!

A commercial product that is used for fender wells and frames to give a glossy look. There a few brands out there. Chemical Guy's has one that is pretty good. It has a nice shinny oily looking finish that doesn't look like a bunch of goop dripping wet. It dries nice and last. Works for me.

this is the key. Don’t need no frame warranty if you keep it coated in a good product.

It shouldn't. I use to spray fluid film every year on my 2001 tundra. Toyota inspected the frame about 9 years later. The dealers service manager thank me for doing so asking me what i was using. They did replace the rear tire carrier cross member and fuel tank straps as a mandatory usb requirement. They showed me the old pieces....imo they were nearly as good as the new ones replaced.

I plan to fluid film my truck this weekend weather permitting. Being my first New vehicle I'm hoping to keep it a decade or more and protect it from PA winter road salts. I did well with my last 3 year pre owned Jeep that I had 11 years by just washing the underbody regularly but I want to be sure the truck is protected. I don't see how a product you can mostly wash off with a good pressure washer would void the warranty.
there is a guy that did several years of videos on youtube showing how Fluid Film protected his and his dad's Colorado and Canyon from northern Ohio winters.

Nothing wrong with ff when i was using it on my old tundra that was way more easier to get at everything steel underneath. Took a good long inspection of the taco, and decided no way was i going to do the chassis on this truck every year. I decided to hit it well enough with cosmoline, and see how bad it needed to be touched up the following year.
