I have searched the site and there is not much on this. I am thinking of switching to an electric fan to get rid of that drag and if I can install a lighter under drive pulley. Just looking for a little mpg and hp increase if possible. I am not having any luck finding if anyone makes an under drive pully for the 4 banger. Anyone have info in this?

The electric fan will draw more from your charging system.
The underdrive pulley will reduce the output of the charging system.

If you spend a fair amount of time at idle, particularly in heavy traffic in warm weather where the fan kicks on a lot, you may have trouble maintaining battery charge.

While I agree that you will draw more from your charging system with an electric fan, research has shown that the increase in engine load from the alternator is outweighed by the HP drain from a belt-driven fan under load.

Also, even if you spent a long time at idle, you are not going to have any trouble maintaining charge. Cars and trucks all over use electric fans and have no trouble at all with battery state at idle.

    Just my experience.

URD and LCE both carry different underdrive pulleys for Tacoma trucks. however, if you do install one OP, Rich is right that you may suffer slightly on Alternator output, as well as power steering and AC system. Probably not enough to notice, but you should know.
