    Just a general question.... what's the best way to clean under the hood without messing up any wires, or basically fucking shit up.

    I was worried about that as well. Folks who knew on here advised me to hose it down with degreaser (I ended up using some foamy Gunk brand) and spray it off.

    I've done it a few times now, no problems. I do cover the alternator with a plastic bag but even that's probably not necessary.

    I usually use a mixture of water and simple green. Spray it down, hose it down, rinse repeat until clean. Just take it easy on the fuse box n stuff.

    I know it's overkill and probably unnecessary but I use plastic grocery bags to cover the alternator, fuse box and my battery since I have a few wires running to it for my roof mounted lights. Then use a light spray hose over everything.
