The truck you have is a clean 2010 regular cab, 4x4, manual transmission, Toyota certified pre-owned, 2.7L vehicle.

I feel pretty happy with the truck, despite of it's small engine and lack of power. I threw on some BFG's 265/75/16 about a month ago. Got them for 80$ a tire, brand new. The truck is even more bogged down and I get around 17mpg, lol. Anyways, overall its a decent ride.

I bought the truck for 16,400 at 44kmiles last year, now it has a little over 60k on it.

I posted it online for sale at 18,500 hoping to get a good deal. I got a caller today wanting to check it out, I probably won't let the truck go for anything under 17,500 (still dreaming big). If the guy still wants to purchase it at that price, would you let it go?

Ill be searching for either another Tacoma v6, 4x4, manual trans or a frontier with the same specs.

I like having back seats, but do not want to search for another vehicle. I flew to California to get this truck and drove it twelve hours back.

Insurance gave me about 1300 dollars for hail damage (very minor) on the roof and hood that I put into my bank account. Only money I put in is for regular maintenance (trans, diff, transfer case, engine oil, filters, coolant, air filter) and tires.

I would have about 22k to put down on another truck. (hate doing payments).

I would sell it and get a V6. But that's just me. Many 4-cyl owners on here love their trucks.

I would sell if you get above 17,500. If I wanted a tacoma again I would sell for sure and get a v6.

If you're happy with it and won't regret going for a bigger engine/cab of a similar 2nd Gen then stick with your truck.
If you even think you might want to go V6 or double cab then get your top dollar and, yes I hate doing payments too-- but start doing them.
It won't be long before it's paid off especially with $20-25k down.

You don't want regrets with Tacomas, trust me :(
These things will last decades if cared for properly which it sounds like you do just that with your vehicle(s)

So, you bought the truck for $16,400, put $800 in tires on it, drove it for 16K miles, and now want to sell for $17,500  Do I have that right?

That's not how depreciating assets work. But YMMV, PT Barnum, etc.

    He said $80 dollars a tire....that's only $320 bucks.

Where did you get $800 from?

And strategically he bought a truck out of state and drove it home. The value may have been higher when he purchased. Doesn't mean the purchase price stays with the truck. It's the blue book value that matters.

Blue book value on the truck is 11k. How you'll get 17k would be up to the buyers budget.

I don't see it happening, but good luck none-the-less!

I bought mine with 73k miles for 20,300 with everything you see on it! that being said I am in the car business and I found a gem (girl left her man and took his truck then traded it in). You might be able to sell it no doubt just be prepared to sit on it for awhile. If I were you I would shoot for the stars at 15k. At 17k you might offend half the buyers to not even talk to you lol.

If I could get fair market value out of it, and if I could afford to upgrade to the V6 I'd do it. But I don't think your truck is worth anywhere near $17K. KBB shows $10,100 - $12,500 depending on whether you trade or private sell.

If it were me personally, I'd be happy to get $12K out of it and upgrade. But you're going to take a big loss.

Sell it for whatever price you can get for it. Aim high. Dont listen to a single person on here about vehicle value. Nobody will ever appreciate the value of your truck as much as YOU. That being said; if you aim high and get a buyer (and i actually believe there are enough people searching for regular cabs? That u might get more than bluebook if its clean

aim as high as you want but i think its funny how people value there rigs. I sold cars for a year and it was extremely annoying when a guy came on my lot and yelled at me and got pissy about me and laughed at me about how my vehicle was and how it was to expensive and priced 2k over KBB (even though KBB does not sell vehicles) and then get pissy with me when I show them there market value for there vehicle and say that i am unfair. at 17,500 that is a big stretch its like selling a house. when you sell a house do you put it on the market for 150% over value? or do you put it on the market just a little over market value and let them come to you? if you want to sell it for 17,500 it will sit for a long time but if you sell it for an aggressive price that is higher then kbb but not stupid high people will come and it will sell fast. You may value your car more since its your car but in the end its not going to be worth what you think it is. every time I buy a car I look at the market. I bought my Tacoma for 20,300 and in my current market with my current miles I could sell it for 24,000 if I sat on it or 22,000 if I needed to sell it quickly.

Sell it. Grab another 2nd gen double cab with low mileage for mid/high 20's. You would have payments, but you can pay off 4-6k pretty quick. Or take your time doing it with small payments every month. I get not wanting payments, I'm not a fan myself, but sometimes it worth the hassle. Pay it off in 1-2 years and still enjoy several years of driving without the payment.

Of course, that's assuming you wont find a double cab with low miles as low as 22k. You definitely could though.

Yeah, but if he is semi reluctant to sell it, its a win win situation for him if some person WANTS to overpay for it. He gets his asking price OR gets to keep it. Any idiot who gets pissy when he comes to see a vehicle already advertised high is just a fool; and i'd personally throw them out.

I can tell you from 20 years of selling vehicles, is that sometimes personal preference and sentimental value can greatly supersede a "book" value alot more than people think. It literally happens everyday

I bought mine for 29k (before TTL). Last time I checked KBB it was worth 33k. Can't complain.

One out of every 50 or more tacomas I see is a regular cab. Minor hail damage left unrepaired. Throw in the 4 cylinder and you're looking for a very specific buyer. Keep it until it dies or you hate it, then upgrade.

Remember that regular cabs are no longer made, and get rarer every day.

    Go for it!

Lots of opinions, thanks everyone! I'll see how it goes tomorrow when the man comes and sees it. My Tacoma is the only one in the area, looking for someone who really really wants it. Maybe I can make a sale tomorrow
