I rolled my 07 Tacoma in a pond 6 months ago and purchased it back from the insurance company. My plans are to turn it in to a trail truck. I have been trying to get it started, but I can not get any power to the coils. I drained the oil and pulled the plugs and got the cyalnders cleared out. The truck will turn over but it seems like there is no power to the coil packs. Does anyone know what the problem might be or what I should check next?

We think we have narrowed it down to the computer like you said or the crank sensor. The plugs to the computer are not corroted or rusted. Also all electrical works in the cab of the truck. The air bags deployed during the wreck so could they flip a censor or something?

Water getting in the computer can cause a short just like an electrcal outlet, except you won't see any burn marks.

Couple shocks, some old tires, and a bad paint job
Try putting an impact on the crank shaft and see if it turns over.

If you get one from the exact same model and option package as your current vehicle, no. You might have to get the keys re-done, though. If the model is different...maybe. I swapped in a manual transmission to my Mustang with an automatic, and the computer had to be re-programmed. I honestly can't say if the trannies are the same if there are other options that may required reprogramming.

We switched out the computer and re programed the key and the truck runs fine. Pretty good since it was 5 ft under water for 9 hours
