I was at a crossroads in the build of my '08 Taco. Do I dump another 10 grand into the truck to make it a "semi" prerunner, or do I go ahead and buy a completed used prerunner and beat the shit out of that one and save my '08 as a nice daily driver. There really was no decision to make.

So, I had looked at a nice early Toyota truck with linked rear w/ 28" of rear travel and full Camburg front suspension. But the truck was really a "beater" and needed loads of TLC. But the truck hit the shit hard and didn't squeal about it. The other truck I was considering was an '89 Toyota truck up in Anaheim Hills, about 100 miles away. I can say without reservation that the trek was well worth my time. (What's my time worth anyways, since I'm retired and just fuck around all day?)

The seller told me that the previous owner had spent $35,000 in building the truck, and nothing I see makes me think anything different.
The truck is full caged from bumper to bumper w/ 1½" chromoly that's powder coated.

The engine and transmission are all Bow-Tie. A 4.3L Chevy Vortek V6 mated to a Chevy 4 speed automatic.
The engine breathes out through a set of ceramic coated Doug Thorley headers,
[IMG] which in turn feed into a 3" stainless exhaust into a stainless Magnaflow muffler.

The trucks frame was cleaned and powder coated gloss black. The front suspension is custom designed by PDC Motorsports out of Brea, CA. Upper and lower A-arms, chromoly tie rod ends, dual 10" travel reservoir Bilstein shocks per side, yielding 12" of travel up front.

The Chevy 4 speed automatic transmission is mated to a custom 4" drive shaft,
    [IMG]
which in turn is mated to a custom 6" wider Ford 9" rear end with a Strange Nodular case, Detroit locker, 35 spline axles and disc brakes in the rear.

    My newest mod:

A brand new Bulldog Trailers 18x7 double axle, electric brakes car hauler. With drop hitch and brake controller installed, $2340 out the door. It tows very straight, and now I can take out my prerunner and beat the shit out of it without having to worry about driving it home.
