I'm looking for recommendations for undercarriage protection services around the Winchester, VA area. I'd like to protect my new truck the best I can for the ridiculous overuse of roadway salts they use around here. Thanks for the help.

Just be sure any of these shops don't use these rubberized undercoatings.

Do it yourself and save a bunch of money. It is seriously easy.

I am with @tonered for 150 dollars you can have the pro gun, the wands/hoses, and a gallon of product. then each year it is less than 50.00 and your time, to MAKE SURE IT WAS DONE RIGHT! Because it is your truck, not the guy spraying it. they will get lazy, they will cut corners, they will miss areas, and may even damage/scratch your truck while doing it. you invested 40-50k in the truck, invest a few more dollars, and your time, to know it was done correctly. you're assuming I will do it right myslef... I'd rather pay someone with a good reputation to do it, hence the topic of this thread...

Its pretty messy, but anyone can do it. Just feel how accomplished you'll be after its done. With lanolin based rust inhibitors you'll get to do it all over again in several months if you plan to keep up with it.

Imo, you don't need a great reputation for rust proofing, just someone willing to get dirty.

I might just stick with rinsing off the undercarriage with a hose everytime its exposed to salt, might be easier....

If you're not averse to traveling a bit, and you're really not interested in doing it yourself, the nearest Krown dealer is 2.5 hours away in York, PA. Krown is an oil based product that is sprayed in/on the frame, body, and in the bed and door panels. It will need to be applied annually, at about $150 a pop, but with the dealer application you will get a lifetime corrosion warranty for new vehicles.

It will still rust. just sayin. yep, I am going to pay 50k for a vehicle, then just wash it, and pray it doesnt rust. sounds like a good plan to me. Ski

It's worked pretty well for me on every other vehicle I've owned.

These tacomas are special. They can rust right in front of your eyes. I have no idea what kind of steel is used to manufacture their frames, but it sure must have a low chromium content.

Imo, lanolin rust inhibitors are too temporary for the weather, and salt conditions on the roads where i'm at in new england. You need bigger ammo like cosmoline.

The Fluid Film, Wool Wax, and Surface Shield most of us talk about, in this and other threads are lanolin based. so, as long as they do good job, you will be ok. the person doing the application is the deciding factor. lanolin products should be re-applied once a year. good luck! Ski
