$500 is pretty spicy.. are they doing annual re-applications? Any kind of warranty with that company?

Once a year will not work here in new england. We have a lot of weeks with wet roads, and slush from salty melting snow during winter. The abrasive spray you get at highway speeds will just wash, or should i say blow it away. I use to have my tundra done every fall with fluid film, and it'd be gone in spring with the trucks chassis showing plenty of surface rust forming. I had been told it needs it done 2 times a year for fluid flim to be effective. Maybe in different parts of the country you can get away with once a year, but not here.

He said $200 for yearly re-applications if needed.

And I tried asking about businesses local to my area that provide a specific service, and so far only received one relevant response.

There's a company in Eldersburg that does this kind of stuff. I think they have a location in Ft Royal also.

You'll need a good size tarp, and the need to suit up in some throwaway coveralls with a hood, or at least a cap, and goggles. Don't wimp about it, just get it done while the truck is new. its not hard, just messy.

I use NHOU (New Hampshire Oil Undercoating). They are local to me, but the nearest applicators appear to be 2 plus hours from you. I pay less than $200 per application (every fall for me).

As others have said, it isn’t hard to do it yourself, but it is a messy, kind of nasty, job. It’s kind of a toss up between doing this and bottom painting a boat.

$500 for a lanolin product is way too high imo and I have used it before and will never use it again.

I would go with the rust proofing and undercoating from this place. The products they use are very good and will give you some of the best protection. The rustproofing is what is used inside doors, fenders, tailgate etc. It prevents rust happening from the inside out.

Did I say I was going to use that business? I’m trying to determine my options here.

I don't live near you, but i recommend finding a place that has a guarantee.

Or at least get under your truck and check after you pay someone. Bring it back and say "you missed a spot"

Seriously a few cans of whatever your flavor and for $100 or less you can do a MUCH more thorough job yourself. 25159.jpg

After some Google searching, it doesn't look like Virginia is a haven for rust prevention applicators. I did find 2 Ziebert dealers about 100 miles from Winchester, but I think they use a rubberized undercoating as part of their rust prevention (please don't do a rubberized undercoating).

You seem deadset on not doing it yourself, and that's okay.

It just means you're going to have to travel. Find a place that offers a warranty, block out your schedule for a day, take a roadtrip, and just go get it done while the truck is new. You spent +/- 50k for this truck, don't skimp out on corrosion protection.

I’ll look into this one, thanks. This isn’t one of those rubbery coatings is it?
