I have to agree with most of this if I lived in cali I would have passed on any truck from the rust belt. Just an inconvenience you didn’t really need to deal with.

Yeah most definitely follow the proper produce for the hub assembly and the clam shell. I personally found fluid film to wash away to easily for my liking that's why I recommend Wool wax or Amsoil heavy duty metal protector. You might want to look at Eastwood they make an internal frame protector with a 360 degree wand . I'm no way affiliated with these companies but I use and like their products. Proper preparation is the key. USN adage ( 7P ) Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.

I have to say the wool wax held up phenomenal over the winter. While it wasn’t a harsh winter it has been a very wet winter and spring and the wool wax is still intact. Not sure if I want to power wash the frame and reapply or just apply over what’s on there.
Plus my dog loves the smell…..every time he walks by a truck he stops and sniffs it to see if it is “his” truck.

No need to worry about that rust. I made the mistake of moving to PA from SoCal and lived there for four years. Roads are treated with a highly corrosive solution that rots frames.

I would hit the easily accessible spots with a wire wheel then rattle can. No need for fluid film since you live in the desert. Your truck will never be subject to road salt and rarely even drive in the rain.

The cast iron parts start to rust on the trip from the factory to the dealership: especially the u-joints and the casting on the back of the diff. I suspect they already have some [rust] in the bins along the assembly lines.

You may have made a mistake not checking, but in this case even if you did look there's no reason in those pics not to buy it.
