From what I've read, people like to use something called POR-15 to do touch-ups. I've heard that the stuff is amazing and the rust never comes back, but I personally haven't tried it...yet.

I just sprayed mine with a lanolin based spray. It stays wet and provides a barrier against water and salt. From all my research, I found it to be a good (and thankfully cheap!) product. I guess time will tell now

Yeah rubberized undercoat, that really going to hold the moisture, can you say rotten frame. Just have it undercoated yearly with oil spray, I go to Krown, or Oil Guard, the oil displaces any moisture and gets into your electrical system preventing corrosion of connectors. My 01 Accord has not a spot of rust, and I won't even consider a used vehicle that doesn't have generous amounts of oil undercoating. My old Civic Si was 17 years old when I sold it and the body was the cleanest one I had seen in a while.

Nice find, i have the same kit but by fluid film. Seems to be very similar but you apply NH yearly where fluid film is applied every 8-12 months.

When I do mine with fluid film it only takes me about 25 min. I do it every fall and there is still residue from the fall before. I like FF because it creeps into nooks and crannies and doesn't dry hard. When I apply it with my compressor, I first warm up it up it hot water, turn up the compressor to 80psi. and blast a way. It really gets everywhere. I also have a attachment with a nozzle and tube that sprays 360. Degrees, that goes on a rattle can. I can use that inside other places like the inside frame rails. There's pages on here about FF.

Doesn't Fluid Film disolve the OEM frame antirust coating?

Rubberized coating can lock in the water, thus making it worse, not an issue the first year, but after who knows, and you will always have on the truck.

Fluid Film, NH oil, Corrosion Free, Krown are all oil based products that yes need to be done yearly, but you can see the frame, this stuff creeps and repels the water. I will be going this route, just can not make up my mind as I will probably do it myself in the next few weeks.

No matter what, do something as I assume upstate NY uses a fair amount of salt and stuff on the roads

I just used Lanox it' a lanolin based product from Australia, works phenomenal and doesn't drip or become sticky. Here is a link to the product:http://www.inoxmx.com/inox/mx4-lubricant/

I am also able to offer Tacoma World members an awesome deal of 16.99 plus shipping for the 12oz can which will easily cover 1 undercarriage frame and diff. covers.

For us in Canada, We spray our vehicles yearly with oil, especially now with the brine their putting down its even more important, Whether it be Krown or who ever. That said a 5gal pale of oil here is 50$, an undercoating gun 20$ and as long as your compressor can keep up to 90psi then you can spray it yourself. I sprayed my truck this past week, only took 45mins. My gun came with a hose extention to put into holes so to spray areas that you would have to disassemble if you were to paint.

My old 97 rav got sprayed every single year, come last year when I sold it there was only a tiny bit of surface rust in one spot. Overall, The body was mint.

I am on a bi-weekly detail regimen with all my vehicles. They are cleaned every 2 weeks, inside, outside, and underneath. There is NO rust and NO sticky, oily, or other substance I can't clean up easily. This works well for me in the Mid-Atlantic. I may change my mind if I lived any further north.
