If you get your frame under coated by Toyota and it still rusts out your screwed I have an 05 that was undercoated in 2014 and now its all falling off and it is rusting underneath I have a rot hole in the bottom of my front crossmber the one the front diff mounts to! So I took it to Toyota and they said there is nothing they can do for me! Ounce the initial inspection is done and they decide it just needs under coated that's it a one time deal it either gets a new frame or it gets undercoated so when they under coat it over all the rust it doesn't just magically disappear its still there and it's growing! They said it slows the rusting down oh like that's a great solution to a major problem! Just replace all the frames they know there bad!!!!

I'm sure they didn't expect so many issues, they did it as a courtesy, but they keep extending the vehicles affected. So some genius said how about we offer to undercoat people's frames, that aren't that bad yet and make them in eligible for frame replacement down the road. Cost them a lot less and they still think that are satisfying customers. (Which they are until they get pissed that it's not a perminate fix and it keeps getting worse, then they flip shit because they want a frame replacement but now they can't, so all satisfaction is gone at that point)

I thought I read somewhere that once you did the inspection/undercoating, they warrantied it for 5 or 10 years.

I recall seeing something along those lines too, the OP should probably go visit another Dealer or call Toyota Corp.

Doesn't sound right. When my 2002 was recalled and undercoated the warranty was extended to 15 years. Rusting through before 2017 would have gotten me a new frame. Call Toyota corporate and get the real info.

Well I haven't heard anything about a warranty but I just bought the truck from a gmc dealer so I don't know if the warranty if any is transferable. But Toyota corp said there is nothing they can do for me so I'm guessing not.

Undercoating doesn't work when the frame is already rusting out.

Keeping bugging Toyota and take it to a different Toyota dealer.

You said you just bought it, did you not check the frame prior to purchase?

I just had mine undercoated at the dealership. A friend of mine who has a 1st gen had his undercoated and 3 yrs later his gas tank fell off. He took it back to Toyota and they replaced the whole frame.

Either the dealer is lying to you, or they were drunk when they read the recall documentation.

The way it works, is if you are offered the inspection and the coating, and you REFUSE it, then you FORFEIT warranty.
If you ACCEPT the coating, THEN AND ONLY THEN, the extended warranty kicks in.

Yeah I checked the frame before I bought it it appeared to be OK. Only upon detailed inspection did I find the hole. But I will call the original dealer who did the undercoating and see what they say thanks everyone for your input it is quit frustrating to go through all this!
